B9 | There was no way it was going to be a quiet bottom of the ninth ... Lunceford draws a leadoff walk!

LA Tech falls to #11 Southern Miss, 5-2.
Started the year 15-2 with quality wins against AR, MS St and ULL.
21-18 after that point.
Well...chit! This season is over.
Typical Burr. Did the same thing at NSU. Always under-achieved. Always left the team deserving a little better. Fire his ass now. Please do not repeat the mistake of Sim and keep this loser for multiple years.
This team started 15-2 and that was still Goff's team. But, then Burr started messing with things and you see what the record was since then: mediocre.
But...that's baseball! And thankfully, it's only baseball, not a revenue sport.
Look on the bright side. Next year we are gonna suck so no stressing over tourney selection worthiness. We loose all but one starter (unless Diaz stays) and he - Skelton - cant hit. Gonna have to raid the juco ranks or suffer till our HS recruits mature.
I suspect some jucos. The "rebuilding year" shouldn't fly coming off a fifth place finish, 0-2 in conf tourney, and no regional appearance.
I'd guess we'll be better than 36-20 next year. The longer the season went the more evident it became that PawDawg was right, the pitching wasn't talented or deep enough to compete on the big stage. It appears we have some good arms coming in and we need every one of them.
With essentially no assured returning talent and unless we strike gold in the jucos that choose to gamble their futures on a faultering program I'm expecting a losing record. I can't remember seeing a single thing that Burroughs did to elevate this team's performance.
Man, Tech baseball is not a faltering program. Who knows, may still get a bid.
After yesterday's loss I didn't even turn on the game today. I already knew what the result would be, but I am somewhat surprised that the score was as close as it was. If HCLB couldn't win with this team, next year will be a disaster. It was fun while it lasted I guess.
Rice continues to win. They may even win the whole thing. It's almost like they stole Tech's mojo after we beat them. From that point on they've gotten better and better. That old man down there may still know what he's doing.
You have to overcome bad calls, but sometimes they happen in spots that are almost impossible to overcome. The plate ump today blew a huge call on a 2-0ut, 3-2 pitch. I got on him about it pretty good. Even some USM fans talked about how lucky they were to get that strike. http://csnbbs.com/thread-818608-page-3.html
