Hope our high paid AD realizes that he made a bad hire and needs to cut the loss quick.
Lane B was pretty clueless on the management of his pitching staffs all season long.
He didn't have much pitching to manage. During and a several games after the USM series he waited too long to to pull pitchers. Although he is the HC, our pitching coach is the co-HC and I assumed is who made the call on when to pull them. Whoever was resposible, there was a change when Nate was inserted into the starting rotation two series too late. Who gets credit for that HCLB or Oz? To somebody's credit they didn't keep forcing guys to start who were struggling and were almost a 180 from last year. Had he known how those guys would turn out, I don't believe he would have have red shirted a couple of guys he did red shirt.
It wasn't just about the pitching. The team produced a case of the shorts across the entire spectrum--hitting,fielding and base running. HCLB failed to win with the winners Goff left him. However, he now has the opportunity to quickly build his own team after losing so many seniors. His pottery wheel is empty so let's see what he can mold from scratch.
We didn't take care of our business at Middle TN or in the C-USA tournament and it cost us dearly. Tech's baseball season is officially ended.
On to football season...
Sad ending to a season that started with so much promise. Disappointing as always.
In 5 yrs as HC Burroughs has a 56% winning percentage with most of those wins in last 3 years. No appearances in a Regional but he is in the infancy of his HC career. This yr was his most wins as HC with a team he inherited. Next 2 yrs will tell us a lot about his ability to compete for CUSA championship & take the next step -and Im sure he took the job thinking he had a better chance as a Bulldog than a Demon. Hopefully he was right!
I understand Goff is looking for a job!
Tech posted today that HCLB's 36 wins is the most by a first-year Bulldog HC.
It was just about pitching for several games...then our hitting fell off because of our pitching. Then when Nate was inserted the hitting was back on track until the last 3 games.
We had great fielding all year and much better fielding that last year in certain key positions.
We did not run the bases as well as we should have, but we were very sloppy on the base pads last year.
You saying "the pottery wheel is empty" shows you either don't know WTH you are talking about or your just hoping HCLB fails.
You are a great fan!
