There are many in the scientific community, including some at NASA who have been muzzled, saying we could be headed for a mini Ice Age in the 0-30 years due to longer graphed and more prolific solar minimums. We have had very long stretches of the lack of sun spots this year and actually the last few years. At minimum we could be looking at record colds in the Northeast and Midwest. In the Northeast, "such as those in the season were in 1880-81 and 1917-18. In the Midwest, the years 1967-68 and 1973-74 left a mark with subzero F cold.".

"The last time that there was a prolonged solar minimum, it led to a ‘mini ice-age’, scientifically known as the Maunder minimum. The Maunder minimum began in 1645 and lasted through to 1715, where sunspots were exceedingly rare. During this period, temperatures dropped globally by 1.3 degrees celsius. Although it seems insignificant, it led to shorter seasons and ultimately food shortages. Venture Weather, a meteorological website, said: “Low solar activity is known to have consequences on Earth’s weather and climate and it also is well correlated with an increase in cosmic rays that reach the upper part of the atmosphere. The blank sun is a sign that the next solar minimum is approaching and there will be an increasing number of spotless days over the next few years.”

As I've posted many times, it is the sun that determines global climate. Period. The sun is a star. A huge thermo-nuclear power plant of nuclear fusion, H to He. It is a system, and as it with all systems it is not 100% efficient and thus it goes thru cycles. The slightest deviations in this system affects the amount of solar energy reaching Earth, and thus, our climate.

Real climatologists, not those beholden to a political agenda, say the planet is still warming, recovering from the mini-ice age you referred to. Or, it has been in a warming trend for a couple of hundred years. Maybe it's time for another adjustment. Doesn't matter what we want. It doesn't matter what algore and the other crazies believe, or what they want. The sun will do what the sun will do, and the Earth's climate will be affected by it.

Snow covers parts of the SAHARA DESERT for the third time in 40 years as freak storm sees 16 INCHES fall in one day

This is the third time in 37 years that the town of Ain Sefra in Algeria has seen snow cover the red sand dunes of the Sahara desert, with up to 16 inches falling in some areas.

The 'Costa del SNOW': Spanish beaches are covered in ICE as freezing temperatures cause hailstones to settle on the sand

Fuengirola beach (pictured) was blanketed with a layer of crisp white frost this morning. This unexpected look was brought on as midday temperatures struggled to hit double figures. Beach bars were deserted as many locals and tourists opted to stay indoors. The dip in temperatures followed a week of sun and blue skies in the area. And just yesterday Spanish emergency response units of the Spanish army said they were been deployed to rescue drivers trapped in their cars by heavy snows falling across large parts of the country (pictured inset). Spanish media outlets report that hundreds of cars were stuck as snowfall in the north and central areas of the country disrupts travel on a holiday weekend, when families are returning from Epiphany celebrations on Friday and Saturday.

Well...I have had two houses with frozen (burst) pipes. Renters said they kept the water dribbling during the night. It's not a hard, or expensive, fix. Just replacing a section of PVC. But it is an aggravation!

2018 continues to be the COLDEST year ever recorded! (9 days into it....)
