With the prices of assault rifles at good levels, I'm thinking about getting one to help fight Tyranny if the needs arises. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good basic assault rifle. I'm thinking SKS, a AK-47 or an AR-15 but not sure which would be a better weapon deal and which would have cheaper ammo. Maybe there is another choice I'm overlooking. Any help appreciated.

Well, in the configuration you could buy any of those rifles, none would be truly "assault" rifles as none would have any kind of selective fire mode. Basically, the AK and AR would be considered "assault style" weapons, meaning they may look like a military weapon, but they are not one and do not function like one. An SKS was never a select-fire rifle and could never be considered an assault rifle. The AR and SKS would be decent varmint guns if you owned a ranch and had issues with coyotes or prairie dogs, but I'm afraid tyranny would kick your butt rather quickly if you were armed with one of these firearms. The civilian version of the AK (the semi-auto one) has the traditional bb gun sites and once again I'm afraid tyranny would pretty much wipe you out before you could get settled in.

Of course, if you think a blow up doll is the same thing as a real woman, then these firearms you mentioned may just be the kind of weapon you are looking for.
