It will be a long time before he has to worry about pitching at that altitude.

    Maybe not.

Rookie league in in Grand Junction CO, short season A is Boise, A is in Ashville (NC?), advanced A is Lancaster (PA?), AA is Hartford, and AAA is back in the thin stuff of Albuquerque.

I knew I should have looked it up before I popped off. But, other than rookie ball, the remaining venues don't look too bad. I was surprised Boise was only 2,700 feet. Asheville is 2,100 feet. Lancaster is 368 and Hartford 59.

He just needs to get out of rookie ball.

No, the bonus money is only reported down to the end of the 10th round, and it gets pretty slim down there, many times just a couple of thousand. If a player has other options he may get more, sometimes quite a bit more, but, again, that is at the tail end of the 10th round.
Randy Bell is a pitcher from our local school that went to Hinds juco out of high school(only had 2 juco offers). Then he went to South Alabama, He is in the same class with all of our Hinds former players(washams, Lunceford, Boggs). Rick McCarty offered Randy, but it was after South Alabama offered. He wanted to stay with his buddies at Tech, but he felt loyalty to USA coaches since they offered first. He was just drafted in the 10th round. $133,000 signing bonus. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2..._randy_be.html

I was wondering why they had his signing bonus listed and you are saying they list all of them for the first ten rounds right?

Yeah this is one Goff missed on. He was being told to go after him by those who coached and played with him, but Goff ignored them. He didn't like his size. Imagine how much he would have helped us this year...

On the other end of things, I had a friend in hs who was drafted in the 44th round, his bonus offer was $3,000. That was 13 years ago, but gives some idea of what money players are looking at. I would guess Diaz is looking at 10-20k ish?

Hope Diaz returns, I would think he could improve his position a ton after a great SR season and we sure could use his bat and experience.

What I expected, but sure was hoping he would delay his MLB mediocrity (at best).
