    It is certainly a catch 22 situation. You can't get the budget without the revenue of a P5 and you can't be a P5 without the revenue. Something big would have to happen to break the cycle. The TCU's of the world have broken through to the other side, but it is a rare thing.

    TCU was a prior P5 type school as a member of the old SWC. Of course so were SMU and Rice and I don't see either of those going back unless SMU ligterally buys its way back in

    I would give Houston the edge over SMU or Rice, unless money truly can buy you love.
