Good thing they're in the sunbelt then. They only play on weeknights...should work out great! #tuesdaynightfootball

Also, I knew no one who went to UALR from El Dorado. UALR now has a few dorms, but it's largely a commuter school.
    What is the enrollment?

Was there a time UTA played football?

    From a google search, 11.8k

Non-traditional students make up a big portion of their enrollment. Many folks just go there to get their degree paper and move on with their lives. It's not a place with much school pride.

Before it was UTA it was Arlington State. Like UTEP was Texas Western. They have now set up at least four systems in Texas now -- UT, Texas A&M, UH and Texas State. I don't think the Texas State System has changed the names of the affiliate schools except SW Texas at San Marcos. The only other ones most have heard of are Sam Houston and Lamar. Evidently SFA and North Texas (UNT) are still stand alone.

Yeah, dropped it in the 80s. No support apparently. The school has changed a lot since then, and enrollment is huge - but they did a feasibility study like this and the start up money scared them off (for good, it sounds like). It comes up all the time, and the President has his canned answer down pretty well.

During the oil bust. It happened at roughly the same time SELU dropped football, as well.

UTA finally got its basketball team off the stage of the school auditorium to play their games. Maybe they want to spend some more of that Texas money now that UNT got themselves some newer facilities.

It won't happen because Arky is too chicken to play any instate school. They have literally never played Arkansas State or Central Arkansas.

Chicken or prideful. Is that why the razorback logo's snout turns up?
