    Rock, paper, scissors

Everything, everyone, has their nemesis. We see this all the time in sports. Team A can never seem to beat Team B, Team B always loses to Team C, so when A and C hook up one would think C will stomp A. Nope! Instead A has C's number. And even the great ones are not immune.

Nick Saban is now 0-7 all-time vs. a 9-win Auburn team. 0-3 while at LSU and now 0-4 at Bama. When Auburn is good....they whip Saban.

    Speaking of which....

that Auburn QB so OUT-PLAYED Hurts! What a joke of a QB Saban has! Again, even the great ones have their Achilles' heel and Nick Saban wouldn't know a good QB....unless he's wearing the other team's uniform! That Jarrett Stidham (a Baylor transfer I think they said) made Hurts/Saban look like Pop Warner rejects. An on-line blog this morning is headlined: A REAL Quarterback leads Auburn to victory! I love it! A "real" QB!!

I guess Skip Holtz can now say, "I'm as good as Nick Saban in choosing QBs."

Stidhams story is interesting. Started out at Baylor and left with all the mess over Briles. Went to a JUCO but didn't play there, then to Auburn.

Not really true as HC Holtz has had a nice run of picking good QB's to start while at Tech, until this year's issues.

I hope this was just a bad year for J'Mar, and I think he is twice the QB Hurts will ever be. Hurts may be a better athlete, but if you shut him down you have pretty much shut down Alabama's offense entirely.

This is not the usual game manager type that Saban has preferred at Alabama.

I really do believe J'Mar will be better next year. Holtz has not been bad at all in picking QB's, so I just think that J'Mar is a project that will pay off next year. With any luck, a few extra weeks and he will have a chance to play in a bowl, as well.

If we get selected for a bowl, J’Mar will have at least 3 weeks of extra reps. What is a suitable bowl performance that shows he can improve.

Suitable performance...I think if he can just stop the regressing he has going on right now would be a good sign. I have been as critical as anyone of J'Mar and his football abilities, but I think we all wish for his and Techs' sake that he turns it around and becomes that "Rock Star" QB.

He picked up two grad transfers in years 2 and 3. Nothing since.

No that's not it. He is bad. He had 12 games to prove how bad he was.

He won't. He has no touch. Holtz was horrible at picking this year and probably cost us a couple of games with his bad QB picking.

Being able to make the simple passes than most any Jr High QB can make on a consistent basis. Practice can't fix him.

Yep. He is getting worse. It's obvious.

Yeah, J’Mar’s bad and almost looks like he’s quit on himself.

Just from reading his tweets you get that sense that he is very disappointed in himself. I hope for his sake that he turns that part around, you want to seem him at least be successful in life in general.

I blame this on Holtz. When it was obvious he didn't have it, Holtz kept him in there making the same mistakes over and over again. Sometimes I find I learn a lot watching someone else doing something, and even if I disagree with how they are doing it, I can figure out what I need to do to fix it. This goes for everything I have ever done.

Even a few series on the bench in a couple of games might have gone a long way.

Think you and most everyone else is right about letting him sit, it would have done him some good. Holtz may have unintentionally ruined this young mans chances of ever being a QB. We do need running backs, receivers, and LB's though.

What I do know is that he just has not had it this year and seems to have regressed.

Why do people --even good people like you-- say stuff like that? I've seen absolutely nothing to indicate that J'Mar Smith is worth the time we already have invested in him as our QB. To the contrary, he's gotten much WORSE instead of better as time has gone by.

I sincerely hope Skip Holtz takes this off-season to recruit a couple of really good QB's from the JUCO ranks. Or maybe find another 5th yr senior transfer. Or maybe even just a freshman recruit, who could possibly start for us in 2019. What I am certain of is this: if Holtz continues to back J'Mar only, LA Tech will end up being forced to fire Holtz before his contract expires. None of us want to see that happen. So please, start looking elsewhere for LA Tech's next QB TODAY!!

That's NOT going to happen. And just "wishing" it will happen is not going to work. Did you see some of J'Mar's throws last night? As just one example, that INT was thrown into double coverage, to a receiver that was not open at all.

That was not a performance that you expect from a guy with 13 FBS starts.
