BREAKING The schedule is set!
10:51 AM - 24 Aug 2017 from Ruston, LA
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
Louisiana Tech head coach Eric Konkol announced on Thursday the 2017-18 Bulldog Basketball schedule which is highlighted by 16 home games and two neutral site tournaments in Cancun, Mexico and New Orleans.

Discuss it here.
Honestly better to host a D3 and D2 team than lower your RPI with more 350 rated SWAC/MEAC schools.
True, but only for one game. Not two.
Agreed about Centenary.
We should not be scheduling more than one non-DI. Multiple non-DI games are really bad, and committees penalize that kind of weak scheduling. That's enough for them to throw our selection sheet in the trash before we even play a game. The C-USA office also frowns upon more than one non-DI game. We should be playing a road money game vs. the Cartel instead of the second non-DI. Only two games vs. Cartel gives us slim to no chance at an at-large bid.
The ULL game was also moved from a Saturday to a Tuesday to make room for Jackson State.

that schedule leaves a lot to be desired and I hate that New Orleans Shootout
Glad to see SFA on the schedule -
Miles College is really the only blight - would rather play a $$$ game against a big program on the road
And would rather see Centenary than UT-Tyler
Overall a much better schedule than in the past in my book

You need clarification when you say New Orleans Shootout.
I pretty much feel the same.
While the schedule isn't great, it's still an improvement. No road games versus inferior programs.
The only glaring problem is that we have two non-DI games instead of only one. The ridiculous thing is that nobody has asked Konkol about it in any recent interviews, and today's press release pretended as if the non-DI games weren't even on the schedule. Konkol should have to explain it, especially after the C-USA office told us not to do it. We should be playing a road money game instead of one of those non-DI programs.
The other issue I have is neither White nor Konkol has been able to schedule a single home game against an opponent from a conference better than the Belch. That's something we have to figure out for our program to take the next step. Don't tell me money is the issue when we are essentially throwing away about $100,000 by buying a non-DI instead of playing a road money game.
This may have already been posted, but I just now saw it.

*rubs bridge of nose* We play in the highest division of basketball.
Of course I know who the teams/schools are that we are playing. However, outside of George Mason, Alabama, and our conference games all the other games fail to move the needle for me. Am I wrong to think that? I know nothing about the other schools we play. Where are the games against middle of the pack P5 schools? Where are the games against other G5 conferences with name recognition? Do those schools not want to risk getting beaten? Do we not know how to call and sweet talk them into a deal? Or are we not supposed to have opportunities to play those schools?
