    FCS Rotation (accidental Band thread)

Now that we've seen the Demons won't travel if there team is, bad, we need to come up with a new rotation! Also, no schools should get a PREMIUM rate, even if it's your alma mater!

I don' think the every 3-4 years rotation is going to work.

Maybe schedule NSU, GSU, Southern once every 8-10 years. That should help with the novelty.

Throw in SLU, Nicholls, and McNeese + a couple of more SLC.

I don't mind H/H with ULL, but I think if we can buy a game against ULM every ten years, that would be good too.

Also, spread out the HBCU games - they don't need to be back-to-back years.

    Yr 1 - NSU
    Yr 2 - UCA
    Yr 3 - McNeese
    Yr 4 - Southern
    Yr 5 - SFA
    Yr 6 - Nicholls
    Yr 7 - Grambling
    Yr 8 - SLU
    Yr 9 - ULM

    repeat

If you must include them, put nlulm down for a home and home too. They would not come to Ruston w/out a return game for $500K.

Also, the whole "let's keep the money in state" is weak political squawk. I'm not convinced playing an in state school has ever helped us politically.

I'd put it in the "it hurt us" category because of ULL's name-game shenanigans.

if we play H/H with nlu, the games should be 5 years apart - I don't think back to back games is good for series.

I had another idea in the shower - i think all FCS schools should be paid the going rate at the time of the contract.

Then we should add either an attendance or ticket sales "premium."

The ticket sales premium would be to give each school X number of tickets that they sell and keep the proceeds. I'm not sure if this is already done.

Since 20,000, is probably baseline- we give each school 5000 tickets which they can sell for $20 - to net an extra $100,000. Put the tickets in the wings. Also, each school would get enough tickets for there band.

A sleeping giant is finally waking up.

Have you noticed the recent surge in success and recognition for our beloved Louisiana Tech athletics program? It seems like our teams are making waves in their respective sports, and the rest of the country is starting to take notice. From football to basketball to softball, our student-athletes are putting in the work and reaping the rewards.

I agrree that we don't have to keep the $ in-state, but I don't many (any) FCS that are going to travel to ruston. That's why I included the LA schools plus area SLC schools. We can include the other SWAC schools as well as long as they bring fans

I'm not opposed to it anymore. It does bring the potential of a full house.

If it were up to me to take college football, smash it up and start over from scratch, I would implement a pre-season game. I might even consider 2, make it mandatory to play one home and one away - it could even be the same team, one from nearby.

No, no it will not - ULM supporters will not buy tickets - NWSU, UL-L, etc. will buy more tickets. ULM has little to no fan base and the base will not buy tickets to sit in JAS.

On the return trip, we will pack their house with fans....buy the tickets, spend the money, etc.

UL-M is dying - why help keep them on life support?

You can't possibly know that. It's been nearly 20 years anyway. That's nearly a generation and the reasons we quit playing them back then don't really matter now.

Actually, I can know that. I deal with more UL-M boosters / fans than most. And none of them will spend a single dime to come to Ruston to watch UL-M play Louisiana Tech. And you can bet your ass we will get screwed on the ticket disbursement / allocation for the game in Monroe.

Heck, most UL-M boosters and fans won't spend the money to go into their own damn stadium. Any given Saturday home game at UL-M you will find more people tailgating and watching SEC games on the satellite than in the stadium watching the live UL-M game.

There is no support for that program...and the few fans they have left wont spend the money on tickets for a game in Ruston.

Now, I can stomach a deal if we each purchase 7,500 tickets from each other. Make ULM pony up and buy the tickets up front.....see if they still wanna play.

Your just generalizing. Because the ulm fans you know won't go means all of them won't go. And I never mentioned their fans. The last time we played, 28 and 27 showed up; where did they come from? I don't know but what's keeping them from coming back?

I wouldn't classify those people as fans.

Look, I know it's an unpopular idea. But I've lived far enough away for long enough that I can clearly see the extreme separation between the two schools. Maybe that doesn't exist locally and that's why people keep saying don't give them a life line. One game will not save their program. One game will not suddenly make them into some north Louisiana juggernaut that steals all the recruits.

We are in the drivers seat, it doesn't have to be a 1 for 1. Make it a 2 for 1 and then put it to bed for another 20 years.

Good list, but agreed with faninmonroe. No ULM. Get Lamar, SHSU, Jackson St, or UALR if their program ever gets the green light. Anyone else, really.
