LSU's band was having some real issues a couple of years ago....financial, leadership, etc.

We are talking Sousaphones, Mellophones, and Baritones. Trumpets are the really the only brass who are guaranteed a majority student owned instruments. The only one I'm not entirely sure of is Trombone.

Trombones are typically owned by the player, too.

There are cheaper options if you want to sacrifice sound quality and durability.

Trumpets and many trombones that are just the basic slide with no thumb valve were student bought. The band typically provides the Melo phones, euphonium, and Tubas.
But Sound Structure is something that can't be bought. You have to have the right personnel to preach and teach it.
But I don't want to get into too pointed of a criticism of the band.

Well, it's kind of hard to keep a Sousaphone hidden in your pants.

So, I think it's safe to assume that we settled the cost of a car vs a band horn question.

The state of Louisiana would NEVER allow such common sense to happen. They would direct them to a dealer selling for 5 times the cost.

Yeah, everybody knows the Chinese can't manufacture anything.

Do you know where your cell phone is manufactured?
