Need more internet ... like this

    Saw this today.

So we now know a cost estimate.

    Just saying....

In an effort to keep up with consumer demands, Arkansas recently signed a 10-year extension to its multimedia rights agreement with IMG. The new contract guarantees Arkansas $137 million over the course of the agreement, but most notably, it also includes a $6 million investment from IMG to install a comprehensive wireless Internet system at the Razorbacks’ three largest venues — Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, Bud Walton Arena and Baum Stadium. IMG will pay the costs to install Wi-Fi infrastructure at a midpoint on Razorback Road, most likely the basketball arena. – Matt Jones, WholeHogSports.

Yep. Probably about $3M is required for the football stadium, $2M for Bud Walton basketball arena and about $1M for the baseball stadium.

Who would we partner with building a DAS Network? AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc?

Also, is cell signal bad at the Joe? I'm with Verizon and had no issues last Saturday.

It looks that Colorado passed on DAS Network with the big carriers. They are hoping to find their own WIFI solution.

Colorado passes on full-stadium Wi-Fi or DAS for Folsom Field | mobilesportsreport.com

Hard to justify cost of connectivity for lightly used venue

“Nationally, stadiums are challenging” when it comes to cost justifications for installing wireless networks, Lipton said in a recent phone interview. While Lipton claimed that CU “hasn’t been sleeping on this,” saying the school has been reviewing wireless stadium options for several years, he added that CU had concluded that a cellular DAS wasn’t a good fit for Folsom, which has been the home of CU football since 1924.

One of the main problems is, Lipton said, justifying the cost to bring connectivity to a venue that is only used a handful of times a year. In 2016, Colorado had six home games on its football schedule, the main use of 53,613-seat Folsom Field. This past summer there were two concert dates with the Dead and Company band that filled the stadium, and the stadium is also used as the finish line for the annual Bolder Boulder 10k on Memorial Day.

I will say Kansas State's wireless was pretty stout the last time we played up there.

And, at Texas Tech's "AT&T Jones Stadium" the wireless sucked.

The first call you make is to CenturyLink. CEO Glenn Post will probably donate it to LA Tech in return for the 5-year naming rights to JAS.
