I think you are correct even though I could go on 26th, but likely cannot on 23rd.

So happy you've caught up with the way things work in those two bowls. The conference did swap bowls, cuz they were swapped by ESPN.

Regardless of what you think, it shouldn't have happened. If we had a real conference commissioner, it wouldn't have.

That aside, we're just so blessed to have someone as intelligent and handsome as you to explain it to us little ole plebes.

Remind me again what's the problem here other than Tech is unlikely to be sent to Fort Worth in back-to-back years?

We have a better chance of playing Notre Dame in the Indy Bowl than a Big 12 team in Dallas. The Big Ten/Big 12 has only be able to fill their side of the HOD Bowl deal once in the last four years (Tech's game vs. Illinois), and the Big 12 is off to an awful start this year.

The HOD time slot is one of the worst while the AF is one of the best. The AF experience was 100x better than the HOD experience.

HOD is probably staring at another 5-7 vs. 5-7 matchup like last year.

It's really not a bad trade for the conference. Maybe our commish deserves a little credit for being proactive this time.

We would go to the same bowl back to back- not a good thing as all college football fans know.

Notre Dame in the I Bowl. LOL! Have you been smoking dope?
In the HOD we have a chance of playing a P5. In Ft Worth we will play Army. Friggin Army. Gosh, maybe we could get Arkansas State again or Kent State, or UL-M. That'd be really swell.

The HOD time slot is one of the worst while the AF is one of the best. The AF experience was 100x better than the HOD experience.
The day after Christmas is not a bad day to play a bowl game. Beating a P5 team >>> beating Army or Navy.

Playing, and beating, a ranked Navy last year was peachy keen. It was considered, by neutral, objective fans and pundits as one of the best bowls last year, very entertaining and a tribute to both programs. Over 40,000 in attendance. A great experience. A huge WIN for Tech football!

But, it's not duplicable year after year. Can't play Army, or even, Navy and/or Air Force every year in a bowl. As a one-time, or once a decade match, it was awesome. But, puhleeze!

I want us to have a shot at an intriguing matchup in a bowl. Of course, so do most everyone else! As a G5, our best prospects for such a game is opposite a P5. Yes, maybe playing Boazy in a bowl game some day would be interesting, or some such game opposite a G5. But mostly, P5s offer the most attractive matchups for us, and we should do everything possible to land one.

On the other hand, my wife is okay with Tech playing in the Hawaii or Bahamas bowls....for obvious reasons!

ESPN was wrong and just going for ratings. They were not ranked.

Navy was #20 in the AP and Coaches poll in week 13. They ended the season with loses to Temple and Army and fell out of the rankings. The CFP rankings? Get back with me when you see a team claim to be ranked in the bottom of that poll. It was about hype and only the gullible believed they were truly a #25 team.

Re: C-USA (ESPN for Hogdawg) swaps Armed Forces/Heart of Dallas swaps

Even if it was true they had fallen out the ranks by bowl time, they had been ranked most, if not all, of the season. I think they upset a ranked Houston last year. Or, was UH actually ranked....????? Gullible? Who am I...and who are you....to question what a team's true ranking should be? It's all a bunch of crap, if you ask me. Often a popularity contest!

None of that is the point anyway. Navy was a quality opponent....a solid, consistent winning program (they had won 3 straight bowls coming in....I think). That was the point of my post. But, much like Dogsince65, you choose to nit-pick one factoid, ignoring the rest of the bigger picture. And why? Usually we can count on the ULXers to poo-poo Tech's accomplishments. Not sure what you hope to gain.

But, I'll stick by my post...there was a "25" by their name, so ESPN had them ranked. Good enough for the rest of the CFB world.

This is a GREAT example of another Dawg fan splitting hairs.......for what purpose, I cannot understand. It's like having a little brother or little sister always trying to correct what you say. So silly.

Dawg 80 can fight his own battles, but --like it or not-- Navy was still ranked #25 when we played them. The record books will show that LA Tech defeated #25 Navy in that bowl game. And that's pretty much the end of the story.

What record books? Based on your logic since they were 25 in the final CFP they were still #25 after we beat them.

You, D80, ESPN, and our goofy PR dept tried to sell a #20 team losing its last two games and still being ranked #25. Calling BS on that is not splitting hairs. You'd have to be a WBB fan to believe such crap.

    Big 12 is on fire...

Baylor drops to 0-3 after losing to Duke.

Kansas gets blown out by a MAC team for the 2nd consecutive week.

It's only Week 3, and neither BU nor KU has a shot at bowl eligibility.

So you think Tech's goofy PR department exaggerated Navy's ranking and that's why you have your panties in a wad? Sheesh!

Guess you weren't in Fort Worth for the game....
