This whole thing is racist AGAINST black Americans, who should be offended. Essentially the U of Washington is saying "you're not smart enough to make it like everyone else, so we're going to grade you much easier than the others.

I'm sure this kind of silliness drives most black Americans crazy.

Well, let's hope they are not lowering the bar for Doctors, Engineers, and some other professions that could result in a dangerous diminishing of quality down the road. Imagine finding out that your doctor only graduated from med school because they graded her on a curve because she is black. Yikes! Or imagine sitting on a airplane with faulty design because the Engineer really should have never graduated anyway.

A new report published on Monday alleged that Columbia University has failed to disclose a $1 million gift from China’s Community Party. The report claims that the university accepted $1 million in donations as part of its relationship with the Confucius Institute, a controversial organization run by the Chinese Communist government that has partnered with colleges around the globe.

According to a report by the Washington Free Beacon, the Chinese Community Party donated $1 million to Columbia University between 2010 and 2015 as part of a plan to establish a Confucius Institute on campus.

The Confucius Institute was designed by the Chinese government as a vehicle to promote Chinese language and culture on American college campuses. However, many believe that the organization has used its influence to exert control over American institutions. In October 2019, Senator Josh Hawley launched an investigation into the organization and its relationship with American universities and colleges.

The essay, titled, “Is There a Doctor in the White House? Not if You Need an M.D.,” appeared Friday in The Wall Street Journal. It was written by Joseph Epstein, an author and editor who was a lecturer at the university, which is located near Chicago.

Epstein wrote that Jill Biden – the wife of President-elect Joe Biden -- using “Dr.” before her name “sounds and feels fraudulent, not to say a touch comic,” because her doctorate is in education, not medicine or science.

According to APA, the proper way for a non-medical doctor to be addressed verbally is "Dr. John Doe." But the proper way in writing, is John Doe, PhD. So, any references to anyone with such a degree, in a newspaper, on the Internet, in correspondence, etc...is John Doe, PhD.

My wife earned her PhD. from LSU-BR. Took her almost 7 years between taking the 30-hours of classes, having to deal with her fulltime jobs as a professor, mom, wife, and dealing with her own mom's health issues. Then after two years of working on her dissertation her major professor got sick and suddenly retired. She had to start over! Yes, two years of work gone in a flash! Her newly appointed major professor and the new committee did not like the topic she had been working on for TWO YEARS and made her start over from scratch. I'll tell you this, my wife is a very strong person, but she cried for days. She said she was done, no way was she starting over...but, a month later, she did.

So! my wife has earned the right to be called Dr. and to use PhD. behind her name!

I always have called someone with a PhD a doctor. I don't recall ever calling someone with an "honorary PhD" doctor.

Changing the name of "Abraham Lincoln High School" in California, because he mistreated Native Americans...hmmm. It is true Lincoln treated indians rather harshly, ordering 200+ of them hung, with no trial, in Minnesota because they were stirring up trouble. He sent one of his loser generals, John Pope, out there to take charge of the situation. Some historic accounts say "only" 38 indians, Dakotas (Sioux), were hung and that Lincoln had a change of heart and quickly rescinded his order, sparing the lives of the other 264 held in chains. But, other accounts state that General Pope had another 200 executions carried out, pretending the message from Lincoln did not arrive in time...when it had in fact did. Regardless of the actual number of hangings, all the Dakotas were held in inhumane conditions, in chains, and never had any legal defense/trial.

There were other incidents as well. But Lincoln was an equal-opportunity persecutor. He also ordered many whites, like the Copperheads of the midwest states, arrested and held in prison, having suspended the writ of habeas corpus, because he feared they might stir up trouble. Lincoln ordered other policies carried out that were unconstitutional. Some will say, well, he had no choice given the nation was involved in a, ahem, "civil war." But, nevertheless, Lincoln was the most criminal POTUS in our history, and only obummer even comes close to matching him.

All that said, like every other historic figure, ones who actually had a profound effect on history, Lincoln has his faults, together with accomplishments, and one should view him now based on the net results of his actions. Most folks would say Lincoln's accomplishments > than his flaws, and taken as a whole should be remembered as an American hero. Which is precisely why the "cancel culture" i.e. commie, bastard globalists want to discredit him.
