Those who think J'Mar was trying to throw that ball away are being naive.
Bad decision but at least he was playing with confidence.
That interception changed the game though. We had all the momentum at that point.

Well, if J'Mar wasn't trying to throw the ball away, then he threw it a solid 5 yards short of his intended target. I'd prefer to think he's not that bad of a passer.

    5 yards short?
The receiver faded back toward the end zone as the defender undercut him. J'Mar was 100% trying to complete that pass. If you think otherwise, you are in denial.

He missed the throw by at least five yards short and to the right (more IMO) if he was trying to hit a receiver behind the interception. Maybe you didn't see the defender make a great catch to keep one foot in bounds?

Jesus people. Please rewatch the play. I can't believe this is being debated.

Our WR (Bonnette?) was running toward the sideline with the defender on his inside back hip. WR both slowed down and faded to the goal line just as J'Mar made the throw, while the defender stayed on his path toward the sideline. The INT was a great catch, yes. But the fact remains...
If the defender didn't exist, it's a catchable ball. It was not underthrown by 5 yards and there is 100% no doubt that J'Mar was forcing the ball trying to make a play on 3rd down.

I've watched it several times. If he was trying to hit our receiver it was his worst pass of the year and would have missed the end zone corner by more than 5 yards.

Agreed, pretty clear Hardy was on a different page from J'Mar which resulted in the pass being thrown to a spot that the WR wasn't near. Bad decision by J'Mar.

okay, it's clear that J'Mar intended to throw the ball to the defender so we would have something to debate about today other than the National Anthem

I think J'Mar is coming around nicely. I've been surprised by how unwilling and unnatural J'Mar looks running with the ball.

with our wealth of receivers, he should only need to run a couple of times a game. Hopefully at those times, he can pick the right spot and run when a defense is on its heels waiting for Veal to make another catch.

Just wanted to see if anyone has noticed if our opponents are using a QB spy such as our defense is doing often. I have not bothered to try and notice and have not had the stomach to watch a replay yet. That tells us a lot about how we are, and have been utilizing our "Dual threat" QB. I am not saying he is not, but is he a dual threat if you do not design plays for him and have him aggressively run these(no sliding). J'Mar is not scaring anyone apparently, I really do not see our opponents assigning someone to him at the times I have tried to notice, if that is the case, then he is not a threat.

Please design and run some plays specifically designed for J'Mar. Yes, he does look kind of awkward and unnatural when he tucks the ball and runs, just does not look that fast and nimble.

Wouldn't you be timid too if every other time you take off you fumble the ball??? Hopefully, as his ball security improves so will his ability to run more often and more effectively.

Please no - he fumbles the ball when he runs...

Smith is average, at best, as a pocket passer. If he's not gonna be a dual-threat QB then yank his starter's role and let's start grooming someone else.
