And this Saturday will tell us if this will be one of our better teams, or if we will play up and down depending upon our competition.

    Re: 100% on Holtz

Many people say Holtz hasn't beaten a Money 5 while at Tech, that's wrong because he beat a bowl eligible Money 5, much better than the 3 Money 5 teams that Sonny Dykes beat (Illinois was 6-6 when we played in 2014, Dykes beat a 2-10 Illinios & 4-8 Virginia in 2012, and a 2-10 Ole Miss in 2012)!

He also beat two top 15 teams in his final year at ECU, and I believe he finished with 2 straight CUSA championships there

Sonny's close game against Texas A&M (11-3) & Houston (13-1) were probably his best losses, followed by Utah State (11-2) and MSST (7-6). Holtz's close losses against KST and Arkansas weren't terrible either (I'm saying best as the competition was decent, not like 2014 NWST or ODU, or 2011 Hawaii; let's revisit USCar at the end of the year)

Dooley's one big Money 5 win was against a 4-8 MSST.

It doesn't matter how bad a P5 team is. They're still a P5 team. They can go 0-12 for 10 years straight, but they'll still be a P5. We have to win those games. Dykes did well. Holtz hasn't.

What Holtz did at ECU is hopelessly irrelevant to anything he is doing at Tech. He isn't winning championships and he isn't winning against P5. He is getting showed up by USM and plenty of Sunbelt and FCS teams. That should not be our hallmark.

The losses at KSU, Arkansas, USC, and others are horrible because they shouldn't be losses. We were the better team in every one of them until Holtz holtzed it up.

We aren't getting access bowl with Holtz unless he makes several changes to his coaching philosophy and execution of it.
So you say Money 5 wins are everything, yet you say Holtz win against Illinois to win a Bowl Championship is nothing. Reality Check, Holtz beat a Money 5 (your P5) team. You're definitely using more emotion than logic in your statements. Holtz has done good things so far. Hopefully we can win our coveted Conference Championship this year

They are important for our program, not everything.

1 win out 11. Winning against Illinois was great. It was still a bowl game. Not a championship. He has beat only them. So, no, he hasn't been winning against P5 teams. That's pure logic. Emotion is thinking these games don't matter so we shouldn't count them too much against him.

Wrong, he has beaten a Money 5 team, so he has won against them. That's logic there. Your statement that he hasnt' been winning against them is partly true, he has lost, but he has also won. Now, if you said since 2015, then your logic would be golden

As for championship, that is wrong. He has won a division championship twice with Tech (see at least page 6 of the CUSA media publication): http://www.conferenceusa.com/documen...ball_Guide.pdf

And the media, Tech, I, and many others consider bowls championships: http://www.fanatics.com/Heart_of_Dal...wl_Merchandise

2/3 of our last SEC games were by one point in the last few minutes. Should those have been wins? Yeah, they should have. But chill out. The Illinois team we did beat and the KState, Arkansas, and USC teams that barely beat us are better than the absolute garbages 2-win teams you are trying to compare them to.

This team is growing every week. The future is bright.

This should be a slow rebuilding year, but it seems like so much more.

Anyone notice the Southwestern Lafayette Leopards lost in double overtime to Louisiana? That used to be us every three years.
I agree. This is a young team and getting better every game!! We will see how we do against Southern Miss!!

We blew the Demons out once we quit turning over the ball - wasn't about scheme or lack of effort, it was about focus and trying to do too much

Same thing with Moo U - don't make stupid mistakes and it's a 14pt ballgame

Only made one bad mistake yesterday and it led to a 93 yd TD

I agree, we made some mistakes against NWST and they used trick plays to get some points, similar things occurred at WKU. I also agree that the game against MSST was more lopsided than it should have been without the mistakes. I want to know how we compete against hapless FBS SoAl though to see how we stand (can we crush the supposedly weaker teams)

I don't think we will crush weak teams, because this team is not as experienced and senior laden as last year's or the year before...

That said - I think we should win semi-comfortably

The question is do they let the loss linger or do they come out and play from the start

We are YOUNG - but very talented and our qb and his receivers are starting to gel

Vegas agrees. It opened at 14.

Hope our coaches are watching the Sunday night game right now. Showing how prevent defense is done. 4 down lineman and turnover on downs.

I'd MUCH rather beat a P5 school with a 2-10 record than take a 1-point loss against any P5 school. Think about it before responding.
