The stated message is that the entire country, its founding principles, and populace, is racist. Nebulous, insidious, unspoken, systemic racism.

Show me the specific people and organizations that engage in racism, and I'll be happy to call for them to be identified and punished when they violate the law.

Protesting the entire country is just going to disengage potential allies. As of today, the "movement" has become anti-trump, which means Trump now gets to be on the same side as the Star Spangled Banner and American flag. They unbelievably just gift-wrapped Trump a winning issue...

It's starting to feel like 1987 all over again. Back in 1987, the NFL Players Association made the horrible decision to go on strike. Instead of showing up for practice every day, players picked up signs and picketed coaches offices and stadiums. The fans quickly turned against these players, labeling them as spoiled and ungrateful. Suddenly most NFL teams started holding tryouts for replacement players --dubbed "scabs" by the regular players on protest-- and subsequently went back to business playing games with replacement players.

Long story short, the protesting players blinked first. They hated seeing "replacement" players wearing their jersey number on the football field, playing their favorite game in front of 60K screaming fans that would ordinarily have been cheering for them. Oh....and of course they missed those big, fat, easy paychecks too.

The lesson here is, when the fans turn on you, you're toast. It's happened before.

I could not disagree with you more. Everyone of this great American's teammates not standing are directly disrespecting him....PERIOD: http://dailysnark.com/steelers-aleja...m-locker-room/

Is it really? That seems like a sensational over-simplification to me.

Yeah, I'm out watching the NFL. Entertainment isn't that good and don't agree with disrespecting the flag and anthem.

This is division politics at its worst and exactly how Trump likes to play it. He forced the players to stand up for each other to throw another bone to his base.

Disagreeing with protesting the anthem and flag does not equal support of Trump.

I don't disagree. But the level of protest you see today (compared to last week) is a direct result of Trump saying that the protesting players should be fired, and to a much lesser extent his anti player safety comment. There was also serious racist overtones to Trump's comments over the weekend.

Now, THAT is a man! It takes far more guts to do what he did while his entire team disrespected the United States of America and her flag. Imagine what his return to the locker room could be like, away from the public eye.

Yall realize the Saints are whipping Carolina with 5 minutes left?

Kneeling isn't disrespectful, its been a sign of deference for thousands of years.

The greatest nation on earth wouldn't slaughter children by the millions. Don't replace worship of Football with worship of State.

True, but if you took a knee during the anthem and told the media that it was in protest to the killing of unborn babies, you would not have an NFL job the next day.

    Re: Turn Off the NFL

I was born to be a football fan. Several from my family played at Tech. As much as I love football I will not support a league, its teams and players that disrespects what honoring our flag represents.

I feel liberated in no longer dividing my football enthusiasm between Tech and some NFL teams. From now on it's Saturdays only and the red, white and blue of my beloved Dawgs.

You're welcome to protest, but I don't have to pay you to do so

In our current reality, I could see that. Goodell would personally ban the player
