The Tech administration including Guice just absolutely loves Skip and his mediocrity - they will all spin a bunch of excuses about how we just have a young team, several injuries, etc. etc

If you really listened to Dave and Teddy, they made a lot of comments that if you were listening reflected back on the coaching, lack of discipline, lack of coaching, no team leadership, and players just not being motivated. Maybe I did a lot of reading between the lines, but not sure I have ever heard Dave and Teddy make the kind of comments they made today.

I haven't either. Very uncharacteristic. Goes to show how obvious and flagrant it was.

We were not ready to play.

Holtz was not ready to coach.

For one drive, we played and he coached.

Then, when he mattered most, the bottom fell out and we settled.

    Really?

Perfect clock management... Got the game down to 3 seconds for a chip shot field goal. It was perfectly done. Text book. Barnes choked, like he was doing all game. You have to trust your field goal kicker to chip in an extra point.

This is our reality. We had enough talent--and enough poor competition--to be competitive and go bowling the past few years. But as teams in our conference hire young, hungry coaches looking to win and move up--while we continue to play emotionless, go-through-the-motions football--we'll move closer and closer toward what Rice has now become. And as a result, we'll lose more and more recruits to our peers, further exacerbating the problem. This is year 5, and we're in a decline while our conference mates are climbing. Hope I am wrong, but I think we're sitting home during bowl season for the first time in 4 years. And while that is discouraging enough, the most unnerving thing is that the folks in charge will probably be OK with it.

I think you're right. We have had chance after chance after chance to break through to the middle echelon of college football, and everytime we've been offered the stage we've shat ourselves.

    This is who we are.

How did he lie? Didn't you see our offense last year? smh
The lost of Bonnett changed the entire offense. We no longer have someone to take the top off on a defense.
Trent and Carlos are gone dude.

Yep, and all that talk for YEARS about how we'd never get any better until we improved our facilities and got more "stuff" has proven to be a red herring. Having FOOTBALL PLAYERS and GOOD COACHING is the foundation of the program, not a $20MM building or a new press box. No doubt those are nice and can have a tangential effect, but they have absolutely nothing to do with making a team execute on Saturday.
