Week 6: @UAB (10/7)

This game feels like Old Dominion game did-- I flew up --enjoyed the experience until we played poorly. So many mistakes -- we have a week off after this game so we need a win big time -- get fan base feeling better before the Southern Miss game -- that's kind of my point--do not get caught thinking about SM -- focus and play 4 quarters -not 2 this week.

This team has yet to play 4 quarters. They played 3 quarters against NSU and South Carolina, and 2 quarters against Miss St, Western Kentucky and South Alabama. It would indeed be nice to see Tech play 4 quarters for once.

Right. If we don't play for 4 quarters, it could be one of those weird head-scratchers. It don't think they're as bad as some people think and I don't think we're as good as some people think.

UAB concerns me as a fan.

Here's my list:

1. It's homecoming after not having football for a few years.
2. The player's jerseys are dedicated to a cause. The jerseys honoring the children's hospital is an important reminder for several reasons.
3. UAB has played their last two games about as well as anticipated. They held down a Coastal Carolina offense, and they nearly defeated a good UNT team in Denton.
4. Just when we got a rhythm developed on offense, Bonnette went down. I think that still needs to get worked out.
5. Something is going on with the defensive line. We've struggled to get pressure it seems. Maybe I'm missing something.
6. At the end of the day, we're a young team who has played 5 weeks straight against a non stop wave of difficult emotional scheduling.

• We played a can't lose game against NWSt.
• We played the biggest game in recent memory at the Joe and got hammered.
• We returned the next week to go into WKy and came away with a dramatic win on the road.
• We went back east to SC, and we dominated an SEC east team for 3 quarters. We didn't finish the job.
• We came back home to play South Alabama, who had their starting QB back, and we couldn't lose at home after that last performance at home.

We're starting a lot of freshman and sophomores. The quarter has settled in at this point, and the whole situation is real in the grand scheme of things. We get over this hurdle, and we get a week off before we get to host USM.

That's my fan look at the UAB game. But we got this

We don't seem to handle trickery very well, not sure we even practice for it at all, although that is some of the point, it is hard to practice for.

I do hope to see J'mar take some QB keepers this week, some dedicated QB plays so he knows he is keeping it and must hold onto the ball. I believe J'mar keeping the ball and actually running like a back and putting his shoulder down was good for him and also gave our upcoming opponent something additional to plan for.

Looking at the track of NATE it looks like it will still be pretty far off shore on Saturday and will not reach coast until the 8th and Birmingham until the 9th. So hopefully it will not be tropical storming Saturday.

They have a aren't very good in defense. I believe they will have to score well into the 30s to beat us. They will have to force 3+ turnovers while also connecting a couple big plays on offense and not turning the ball over to beat Tech. If Tech plays a clean game we will win by 2-3 scores.

I'm with you. They signed over 30 JC players to start rebuilding -- formula S Miss you to revamp their defense but in reverse --what UAB dropped football SM signed several defensive guys from UAB . Our team to me has the talent and coaches to be special but not there yet --that said several CUSA teams are much better than the past. going to be interesting this season
