We would get beat by just about anyone we would get paired with. 6-6 isn’t a losing record at least lets just move forward and find a QB.
Right..quit this year while we are even, we could get a bowl game and turn this into a losing season, 6-7.
I'm okay with that. As I stated the week BEFORE the UTSA game, I just wanted our team to beat UTSA and finish 6-6. We did that!
The time to worry about all this bowl stuff was when we were dropping all those close games to UAB, UNT, USM and USC. If we receive a bowl invite now, then fine. If not, then that's fine too. This football program has bigger fish to fry than worrying about beating another 6-6 team in a low ranked bowl. This program needs to reset itself, and understand that it has an obligation to its players and fans to improve the product this off-season. Because, the product we're getting right now is boring and unacceptable.
Seems to me that we probably belong in a bowl game more than most 6-6 teams. What CUSA team would the Independence Bowl prefer over us? non-feely answers prefered.
Have you considered those Dogs?
USM or UNT. They are the only ones, but with 3 bowl wins under our belt and 4 close losses, I think we get in somewhere.
They could use the extra practices that come with a bowl game.
I want a bowl game (though won't be surprised if we don't get an invite) for our seniors...for the chance for them to go out having won a bowl every year they were here. Just that chance.
CBS writer has WKU and Middle as the teams from CUSA left out. But SI projections have both those in and leaves us out.

I hear that every year, and that's simply not true.
- What are our players possibly going to learn in 15 practices that they haven't already learned in the previous 112 days of practice?
- Also, if we were going to play a bunch of younger players, I might agree with you. But that's not Holtz's style. Holtz will play all 17 seniors, J'Mar will get 100% of the playing time at QB, and our underclassmen will get very little out of a 6-6 bowl experience.
- We may be better off just healing, getting everybody healthy and using the fact that we were "bowl qualified" for the 4th straight year to recruit good players and rebuild.
I realize I'm probably in the minority on this one. But I've never been a big fan of 6-6 teams receiving bowl bids, or players receiving a "participation trophy". LOL!
