''Don't be a bad dagh..."
A lot of people who would give probably haven't though.
There was quite a fuss in Natchitoches-NSU when the beautiful maple trees were unmercifully hacked to death along the back road on campus. It was in the approach path to the airport and NSU was ordered to take them down. That was beyond ridiculous! Maples don't grow taller than 50-60 feet and planes at that point are still a couple hundred feet up, or they better be or they will land in Chaplin's Lake and not even reach the airport.
Honestly - I was the impetus behind the TAC project off sign the ground so I pushed it here....

At one time the State of Louisiana, via the Office of Forestry, gave away trees to anyone asking for them. They were a variety of pine and hardwood species, including oaks. Of course the program was intended for individuals who could get maybe 5 or 6 saplings, ready to be planted. It might have been one of those programs cut by Jindal, although I don't know that for sure. I do know that Jindal ended the free flower give-away that some politicians used to get votes. These weren't cut flowers, but rather the bulbs to grow plants. I have some of these freebies in my yard. Yes, it's true! I opted for a few lilies that are doing very well, thank you. A democrap state representative complained loudly when Jindal ended the taxpayer supported give-away.
But, if the Office of Forestry is still giving away saplings seems that Tech could get some of those, being a state institution.
