Tom Petty co-wrote this song with Harrison. It even sounds like a Tom Petty song.

I like Tom Petty's music. And I can't believe DogtorEvil hasn't posted anything about Lynyrd Skynyrd's contribution to that era of music.

I like The Eagles, and especially their The Long Run album. But, "I can't tell you why...."

Oh, I know. I guess every generation thinks their music is the best ever...which is kind of the great thing about music, right? It really is the soundtrack of our lives.

It has improved since my generation.
Some people just let their opinions get firmly established and don’t remain open to the changing sounds.

Count me in for being insulted by Hip Hop, but it isn't music. BTW, how could anybody not be insulted by it since the N word is used in more "recordings" than not?

How much hip hop do you listen to? Not that you are the target audience for most artists in that genre. Words are just a means of communicating to me and I don’t really get offended by them. Sometimes they are poorly chosen.

Have you ever talked to a black person about offensive and nonoffensive ways the N word is used? That conversation may be enlightening.

Yes, It's okay for them to use it any time they choose, but they reserve the right to be offended and demand a career be ruined when anybody not black uses the word.

Also, if you don't get offended, how do you label it as artistic?

No magic offensive words for me.

I guess one way to tell whether something is artistic is to see if your conservative friends get it. If they don’t, it might be artistic.

“Artistic” is actually a pretty low threshold, it is just that the Eagles don’t meet it.

It is art to paint your wall Builder’s Beige? That is essentially what the Eagles did with music. Boring.

Funny, I was just humming The Trees in my head while reading the thread on the noble trees fundraiser.

Then after I saw the post on chopping the Maples down by the airport, I thought it served them right after what they did to the oaks!

These guys are making music now? WOW! I thought progressive rock was a forgotten genre. Very nice.

Porcupine Tree hasn’t been so much over the past 10 years, but Steven Wilson has been.

Prog is hanging on by a thread.
