At 53, I honestly feel like I've been blessed to live through some of the greatest music ever made. As these songwriters and legends begin to pass from our generation, it really hits close to home. These folks were the ones we would watch on TV, listen to on the radio, and yes, occasionally try to emulate with an impromptu concert in the shower using the back-scrubber as a microphone. --- great memories from a by-gone time for this Dawg.

R.I.P. Tom Petty...and thanks for some amazing songs.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. If someone is offended, one infers that emotion. I don't think that art has to offend anyone, even if one doesn't agree with the "point of view." There are a plethora of emotions that music, or any art, can evoke which have nothing to do with offending anyone, but has a point of view.

I think you are interpreting “offense” too narrowly. I mean it to say that art should be provocative and if it is just widely embraced it is not sufficiently provocative. The artist is coloring in the lines.

    The Spirit of Radio

    Rush

    Begin the day
    With a friendly voice
    A companion, unobtrusive
Plays that song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood

    Off on your way
    Hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
    For the spirit ever lingers
    Undemanding contact
    In your happy solitude

    Invisible airwaves
    Crackle with life
    Bright antennae bristle
    With the energy
    Emotional feedback
    On a timeless wavelength
    Bearing a gift beyond price
    Almost free

    All this machinery
    Making modern music
    Can still be open-hearted
    Not so coldly charted
    It's really just a question
Of your honesty, yeah your honesty

    One likes to believe
    In the freedom of music
    But glittering prizes
    And endless compromises
    Shatter the illusion
    Of integrity, yeah

    Invisible airwaves
    Crackle with life
    Bright antennae bristle
    With the energy
    Emotional feedback
    On a timeless wavelength
    Bearing a gift beyond price
    Almost free

For the words of the profits
Were written on the studio wall
    Concert hall
And echoes with the sounds, of salesmen, of salesmen, of salesmen

Songwriters: ALEX ZIVOJINOVICH, GARY LEE WEINRIB, NEIL ELWOOD PEART
    ''Don't be a bad dagh..."

Is this the real reason liberals continually offend the masses with their morals, art, ideals and lies?

A lot of the world thinks classical music is boring. Does that make it so and need to be defended?

Absolutely Chuck. I'm 54 and we've definitely been blessed with the best 'lifetime' era of music in history.

It would be difficult to find a more liberal person than Don Henley.
