Our last 10+ win season was in 2016. Oh wait, we crapped the bed against Arkansas, MTSU, and USM.

Arkansas is really the only one of those close losses that wasn't squarely on coaching. In all the others, we played not to lose, and we LOST. In the case of USM, we didn't play not to lose, the team was just flat out unprepared to play at all.
There have been very few losses over the last few years were we were simply outgunned (NC St, of all places, OU, Auburn, MSU 2x). Though I do wonder what would have happened in Starkville had not we taken our foot off the gas up 14-0.
This is why when we're down or close in the 4th quarter, every Tech fan knows exactly whats going to happen.
I swear, all you had to do Saturday was watch the first two series (offense and defense) and know what the results for the day would be. Three and out on offense (netting three yards) and a 9-play drive by UAB for a touchdown. I should have turned it off right then and washed my car or something. It had the feel of that nightmare against Southern Miss two years ago. And I actually considered making the 900-mile round trip to this fiasco. I guess I'll never learn, we will never have a really great season. We should be 5 and 1 right now.
Cheer up, people. We will not blow a game this week.
