    What did yesterday cost us?

Seems like every year we have one or two one possession games that we should win but don't. These games have cost us things in the past. 10 win season, host conf champ game, make conf champ game, and in year one for Holtz it cost us bowl eligibility. In your opinion, what does yesterday and South Carolina end up costing us this year?

    - Let's just hope we can get an honest 15K avg in for the next 4 home games.

    - Without drastic improvements (which I don't see on the horizon), this team will likely finish .500 with no bowl.

Watching this team, you get the distinct feeling that the players & coaches just don't care. From the lack of interest in 1st quarter play, to the continued poor play calling, to the undisciplined penalties, you just get the feeling they don't care. They continue to make the same mistakes (e.g., prevent defense, or on offense J'Mar not running the ball, etc...) over and over. And when the players & coaches don't care, eventually the fans follow suit. So my biggest concern is that our attendance and support will suffer.

Just say $20 per average ticket plus concessions x 3-4K fans x 4 home games. Also factor in we are behind the eight ball in the race to host the CCG now, so there's that $$$. That's not even factoring in the damage it does in recruiting.

Amik is the only one playing with emotion from kickoff. You can tell he is upset with himself when he allows a catch. Even if it is because the QB had all day to throw. Dancy shows like he wants to be there when he gets a chance to play. I think that needs to be rewarded.

The main problem is that Tech really sells itself short and that our fans have really low expectations. Holtz had a 5 star QB and the best that he could do was beat a Sun Belt team in a bowl game and our fans were calling him a hero.

Yesterday showed me that as long as Holtz is at the helm, we can expect to underperform. This was the year that WKU is down, Southern Miss is down, and we should have been the odds on favorite to win the championship in Ruston. However, we go on the road and lose to a team that hasn't had a football team in three years.
I have no confidence in HCSH going forward to be able to actually win a conference championship. He's a great person, and the players seem to love him, but his likeability and all our new construction hasn't resulted in a championship in a conference as bad as CUSA. Bowl games aren't the measure of success in today's game because there's so many of them that a 5-7 team at times can play in one. If you can't win a championship in 5 years in CUSA, that speaks volumes.

It cost us the CCG, but it REVEALED that we were never going to get there in the first place.

It cost us 10 regular season wins. Nothing more, nothing less.

    aka The Next Step.

Maybe one day we'll reach the pinnacle where Troy, Appy St, and Georgia Southern, noted powerhouse programs, have reached.

Yep. It's our kryptonite. That said, the conference is BAD. We could very easily host the championship game.

Skip's teams don't rise to the top, but I don't see the death spiral some predict either.

We're mediocre special teams play away from bein 4-1 right now.

It's a game of inches and yesterday, we were a few inches short.

The attitude of the team is what worries me most.

All the other BAD teams in the conference play with fire in their bellies.

Both of those things are hard to objectively evaluate.

My take is that we're young and the "leaders" are sophomores who haven't grown into their leadership positions yet.

Of course, we won't know until December or so.

Here's to a better game in 2 weeks.

VERY disappointed in the quality of football Skip Holtz has produced this season thus far.

More like a few feet short. If you are talking about the missed kicks, they were not even close, and the blocked one was a few feet low.

As others have stated, this team has no fire in the belly and our QB seems to wimp out on runs. I guess Skip has told him not to run aggressively, but that is a recipe for disaster and makes the QB look very tentative. I bet he has put the fear in him not to throw picks, so he is consistently over-throwing receivers. Just my take on things.
