UNT is playing some good football with players we didn't want. It shows what a difference that coaching makes. Tech needs to fire Holtz before the bottom falls out
UTSA defense is actually pretty salty! They actually rushed and got to UNT Qb plenty of times tonight! By the UNT Qb is a tough cookie - he is Fine!
Looked like Fine almost got killed on that last play. Took one for the team.
Comments like this is usually bulletin board material and would make others....get pissed off. Ya know, to pound lumps into UNT and UTSA when they come to Ruston and say afterwards, 'we got your west division championship for ya!' But, that requires a little fire in the belly, and so far, I'm not sure this Tech team even cares, let alone has fire in the belly.
Saw some highlights of Johnny Football recently, and that little bastard was tough as nails. He never did that sissy hook slide...ever. And my favorite play was when aTm beat Bama that year. He took off on a run and TWICE, when a lesser QB would have slid or ducked to the ground, he stiff-armed a Bama defender and kept going. At the end of that run he was pinned along the sideline, 4 BIG Bama dudes closing in, and instead of stepping out of bounds, and taking the 30 yard gain, he whalloped a Bama LB with a stiff-arm and got 5 more yards. Holy crap!
QBs are the single most important players on a football team. Yes, it is a team game. But QBs are leaders....who can certainly lead by example. Tech lacks fire because we have a wussy at QB. But...that can change. Smith needs to step up. This team, especially the offense, needs a fire lit under it. Smith can provide that spark...if he just would.
