Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), who chaired the House Intelligence Committee during the time the FBI probe was being conducted, told The Hill that he had never been told anything about the Russian nuclear corruption case even though many fellow lawmakers had serious concerns about the Obama administration’s approval of the Uranium One deal.
“Not providing information on a corruption scheme before the Russian uranium deal was approved by U.S. regulators and engage appropriate congressional committees has served to undermine U.S. national security interests by the very people charged with protecting them,” he said. “The Russian efforts to manipulate our American political enterprise is breathtaking.”

The investigation was ultimately supervised by then-U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, an Obama appointee who now serves as President Trump’s deputy attorney general, and then-Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe, now the deputy FBI director under Trump, Justice Department documents show. And the Director of the FBI during the investigation was Robert Mueller. Now we know why Rosenstein was so quick to appoint Mueller to investigate Trump. McCabe is now under investigation for illegal campaign money that his wife took. So, if you want to take the focus off of corruption that your party has already committed, what better way to do it by pointing the finger at the other party and saying they are guilty of corruption. And, you appoint the FBI Director that was in charge of the corruption investigation and have him investigate the other party. That's the democrat way, right???

Just to be clear - A Russian company bought a Canadian mining company that owns uranium assets in the US. Primary regulatory approvals required for this acquisition were Canada, Russia and Kazakhstan (IIRC). US would have to approve the acquisition via authority of the Foreign Investment (part of the Treaury) as it pertains to the US assets.

While such an action would give Russia “control” of these assets (previously “controlled” by Canada), uranium is restricted from export so it is not like the uranium is getting sent to Russia. It is being bought and sold and transported within the US.

Bribery and kickbacks to the US trucking company are a big deal in that they are illegal and could be a potential security threat (in the same way that The FBI was concerned about Trump being a potential security threat if Russia had info on him).

Btw, bribery would be money the company paid to Russian government officials (if this was truly an FCPA issue) and kickbacks would be what the government directly or indirectly gave the US company or individuals.

Certainly it would seem that the Treasury should be informed by the FBI prior to approving the acquisiton if the FBI knew this was going on.

This is definitely the biggest corruption ever uncovered in our government. I remember first reading about our government allowing Russia the ownership of 20% of uranium mined in our country and wondering what in the hell was going on. Now the real story is out about how and why this happened. The bribery must run very deep in the government for this to happen. Mueller, Rosenstein, McCabe, Comey, Lynch, Clinton, and Holder all need to be investigated by congress. Trump needs to fire Rosenstein and Mueller immediately.

I believe Congressman Grassly also believes it's corruption. If anybody in our government participates in letting the Russians have access to 20% of the uranium produced in our country, that's corruption.

An American businessman who worked for years undercover as an FBI confidential witness was blocked by the Obama Justice Department from telling Congress about conversations and transactions he witnessed related to the Russian nuclear industry's efforts to win favor with Bill and Hillary Clinton and influence Obama administration decisions, his lawyer tells The Hill.
Attorney Victoria Toensing, a former Reagan Justice Department official and former chief counsel of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Tuesday she is working with members of Congress to see if they can get the Trump Justice Department or the FBI to free her client to talk to lawmakers.
“All of the information about this corruption has not come out,” she said in an interview Tuesday. “And so my client, the same part of my client that made him go into the FBI in the first place, says, 'This is wrong. What should I do about it?'”
Toensing said she also possesses memos that recount how the Justice Department last year threatened her client when he attempted to file a lawsuit that could have drawn attention to the Russian corruption during the 2016 presidential race as well as helped him recover some of the money Russians stole from him through kickbacks during the FBI probe.
The undercover client witnessed “a lot of bribery going on around the U.S.” but was asked by the FBI to sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) that prevents him from revealing what he knows to Congress, Toensing explained.

What is stunning to me about this report is that the NYPost printed it. They must now realize that the absolute corruption in DC is about to be completely exposed. They want to appear to have at least a shed of legitimacy.
