Would this article even been written in today's political climate? I think not, at least not by the NYT.

Did you read the whole article? There was lots of stuff about kickbacks going to the Clinton foundation. There were 9 people, all Obama appointees, that signed off on it and that's all that was required. No signature from the NRC. Apparently, Obama didn't pay any attention to the Wyoming congressman's letter.
