I agree but Rice is in one of the largest cities in the world. Not quite apples and oranges.

Had we not lost against UAB I would have expected 21,000. Had we also won at SC I believe 24,000 would have been possible
My point was that I wouldn't measure the fragility of our fan base by comparing it to the crowd at Rice today. I agree with you though--our announced 17,000 last week was inaccurate; just not as inaccurate as Rice's announced 20,000.
Pulling out a win at the end against air would count after what has happened in the last month.
It is something to build on, but it is a long way from what will be needed to beat North Texas.
Tech could actually try to give their fans something to be excited about rather than hiring another the son of a legendary coach.
Where was this 20K crowd hiding? Watching the video there might have been 10K fans.

I was at the game this afternoon. Even a figure of 10,000 would be generous in describing the attendance at Rice Stadium today.
Nope. We expect 25K every game to come and watch the product Holtz and company are putting out on the field. Why I'm not sure, but if I find out I'll let ya know.
