Holtz has been consistent at telling his players to:
    1. Praise your opponent
    2. Praise your teammates
    3. Praise your coaches

    Speaking of J'Mar.....

"We've got to simplify things to make them easier for him (J'Mar)." -- Skip Holtz
I have a better idea, Coach: Why don't you quit treating him like a baby?

I learned a long time ago that you may be genuinely surprised at what kid's can accomplish if you just get the hell out of the way and let them blossom and flourish.

I agree. Just let him play. He's clearly thinking more about messing up than about winning. That's poor coaching.

Let him play. If he can't, give somebody else a shot.

Yea, sounds like is over coached and/or overthinking everything. Skip has been very open about it to his credit. Dude just needs to throw the damn ball.

The problem is that Skip was unable to fully recognize a train wreck was forthcoming. He and Rattay thought our QB could handle all the quarterback stuff and he is not able to.

Hopefully, Smith doesn't have the yips. It reminds me of Steve Sax of the LA Dodgers. As a second baseman he committed 30 errors in one year. Most were throwing errors, including to first base. I just couldn't pull the trigger when he was throwing the ball.

We have all seen 3 versions of JMar this year. The turnover machine, the getting better version and the WTH version we saw against USM.
We know he has arm talent and has shown that many times. We know he has better leg talent than what he displays in games. We know that when he's thinking he is not playing wide open - like a pitcher trying to aim instead of just throwing the ball. ball.
No doubt in my mind he has the talent but he has to go out and just play. Every sport is to some degree muscle memory. Our muscles do what we train them to do - hit a baseball, shoot a basketball, throw a football. Its was obvious Saturday that he was not playing game he was trying to control the game. I think if he can learn from Saturday and just go back to having fun, trust his training, he will continue to develop into a really good QB. Hopefully he can regain some confidence Saturday, throw for about 300+ yards and continue to grow.

So many folks are throwing in towel after the bitter loss to S Miss and J Marr had really bad day as QB -- Guess what, not even close to worst day I have seen against S Miss-ironically it was 1967 when a totally worthless--horrible , lousy QB threw 6 picks ( several for pick 6) in 58-7 loss on Thanksgiving day. For some goofy reason the coaches did not give up on him-- I can only imagine if BBB was around-- anybody remember what happened to that guy--name was Terry Bradshaw.

I drove back from Ruston in misery Saturday-- decided I was NOT going to Rice Game -- then I calmed down and questioned whether I was a fair weather fan or die hard win or lose guy. I will be in Houston -period end of story .

So hear goes -- while at Tech I saw these games with Southern Miss:

    1965 Lost
    1966 Lost
1967 Lost 58-7 Shreveport fair ground on Thanksgiving day--Terry B
    1968 WON 27-10
    1969 lost 24-23
    1970 won 27-6
9171 lost 24-23 NO=it did not take me 7 years to graduate-- I stayed for masters and taught English under Dr Sachs went to game in 1965 while in HS

So all the whining and WOE is Me crud being posted I am ignoring. 2015 and 2016 southern Miss games bruised my heart but I refuse to give up on our dogs
We live in horrible times where a computer allows people to post crappy-stupid stuff that they would never say in front of coaches-player etc.
FLORIDA PLAYERS AND COACHES GETTING DEATH THREAT--DRISCOL LEFT THE PROGRAM BECAUSE OF IDIOTS -FOR GOODNESS SAKES-DEATH THREAT
I have personal opinion that overwhelming majority of BBB negative posters have never suited up at college level, had knee surgery, concussions etc--just love to vent crap--again, my opinion .

Every coach ( Dykes-Holtz etc) tell the players-circle the wagons and ignore the posters - yeah, I have been one of the many who refuse to rip players, coaches etc. Yeah, I whine during game and vent with my friends but I respect players who chose Tech and Coaches who represent us....
I promised myself I would not read BBB this week because I knew what it would be like, made the mistake of reading to many posts and pissed off at so much hatred posting -yeah, its the right word HATRED -- its the world we seem to inhabit -- signed a 52 year supporter

yep-- fortunately I had a grandson who helped me thru depression-- could not sleep (honest) he cried the last 2 games and knew the song-- started singing it on way back home and got all of us laughing and involved --

prepare to be ripped but I like your attitude-- Higgins rode bench for years and turned out as one of best-- no bench for J-Mar - all we can do is hope he becomes the QB our coaches think he can become

Hatred??? That's a pretty strong word to describe a group of people when you have no idea what is in their hearts. Many of the posters are venting as you said, there may be a couple that are a little more harsh than should be, you may consider me one, BUT THEY ARE HERE!
They did not show up here just to be hateful, most are just giving their heartfelt analysis of how they think the season is going and the QB situation.

A lot have avoided the board this week just to avoid the negativity, and some have hung in there and posted their Opinions, popular or not.

D65-I am glad you are here and have supported the program no matter what, but their are several different opinions on here and I would much rather all of us get on this board and vent rather than out in the public and social media. We will all continue to support the team, I believe that, so many on here are concerned with what is happening with our casual fans and the popularity of our program.

I can see your concern, but remember, these are opinions, analysis, and rants about a team we all love and want to see succeed, and we all care enough about it to be here and question decisions.
