North Texas ranked dead last in conference against pass and next to last total defense-- that's good news IF!

North Texas at or near top of list for Offense Running and passing about even. Bad news there .

They beat a division 2 team and 4 conference teams ( s miss and Uab). Saying obvious but we all know who needs to have best game of their career Saturday.

Which teams in CUSA performed as expected last week? They are all over the place, one week doing the impossible and the next week they try to see to what degree they can under perform. I don't even pretend to have any idea as to how any CUSA team is going to do from week to week.

We may go undefeated for the rest of the season or go win less, neither would surprise me.

I have no idea what this team will do, but what I do feel confident about is that we are about to see our lowest HC attendance in many years. I don't think winning out will get us back over a true 20K for the year. Still crickets from our admin regarding our student attendance.

Holtz: Pulled out last years injury report vs N. Texas. Last year, we had 2 guys on it, this year we have 25.

This LA Tech team is not very tough. I've seen more Tech players take a dive this year than I have ever seen before. Bad football teams always seem to incur more injuries that good teams. But our guys have no problem yucking it up on the sideline.

This season the only common opponents between North Texas and LA Tech so far are USM and UAB. LA Tech is 0-2 versus these teams, while North Texas is 2-0 against them. North Texas will be playing for bowl eligibility, so you can expect UNT to put up a nasty fight.

Re: Week 10: UNT (11/4) HOMECOMING

I have zero confidence our team will show up enough to win this game. We don't have a QB...period, and UNT has a decent QB who is about to enjoy the best day of his career. No, UNT is not particularly good. They are "okay" by 2017 CUSA standards, but that is enough to be better than us this year.

We've talked at length about the importance of the QB in CFB. It's important at any level of football, of course. But, seems even more so in college ball. Anyway, have to have a good QB to win conference championships, and we definitely don't. We do have an "okay" defense. Given how little help they've gotten from the offense (to sustain drives, hold the ball, change field position), and from special teams re: field position, I'd say the defense deserves kudos. They are our only hope of becoming bowl eligible.

Boston Scott is good and should be featured more. If I were OC (and could actually run the offense...) I'd use Scott like the Saints used Darren Sproles. I guarantee after just one game, opposing defenses would focus on stopping Scott. But, they couldn't completely stop him, and then I'd use him as a decoy at times, to open up something else. And Smith would be running the ball more too. Or...I'd have another QB anyway. I would institute an actual TE too. For those of you who don't know what that stands for, TE = tight end. That's a big receiver who can get those 8-15 yard gains and move the chains. I think Kam McKnight would be a good candidate for the position. No, he's not the prototype TE, but he's big enough, and he's a good athlete that would be productive. Between Scott and McKnight, opposing DCs would have a lot to scheme against. And then....there's Teddy Veal. That's right, when opposing defenses start crowding up to cover Scott and McKnight.....BAM!!! There goes Veal on a deep post, one-on-one with no safety help. Oh, where's that safety? Oh...he's up close to the LOS to help cover Scott-McKnight.

And then, Craft...we would have variety of plays, including traps, to pop Craft straight up the gut for 15-20 yard gains. We would also play action and throw to who....oh, Craft! who snuck thru the line and is now wide open in the flat....another 15-20 yards.

Instead, Saturday, all of us will be calling the obvious play to come because Holtz is so predictable....

Just checked the forecast. Low 80s high with humidity for Saturday? That's not fall football weather! I assume it will be a little muggy for a 2:30 kick off.

I assume East siders will leave early by halftime.

East side students won't be there anyway due to our Admin's poor communication skills.

Gotta love muggy weather...not that UNT will need excuses to cramp up when we possibly have a good, fast paced, series going.

I would like to see more direct run plays from a more traditional set. We do this delayed handoff crap from the pistol. Just means that the running back is that much closer tonthr defense when he slowly gets moving from a dead stand still.

I agree with this 100%. This has irritated me all season. It's as if LA Tech's offense is not happy unless they give opposing defenses a running head start before handing off the ball. Our poor RB's have people in the backfield with 'em before they even get their hands on the ball. Almost every running play we run is a "draw play" to a certain extent.

I guess it’s just easier for me to notice this major issue from my seat on the 40 than it is from the booth, sideline, or EVERY FRICKIN FILM SESSION!
