    How To Beat UNT

FAU has already minted the blueprint on how to beat UNT. Watch their game film on ESPN3 at http://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=3175689 .

FAU set a new CUSA record 804 yards of offense (yes, you read that correctly) against UNT two weeks ago by running a HURRYUP OFFENSE. The game was decided by halftime at FAU 41 - UNT 7 and FAU never had to punt. QB Jason Driskel (brother of Jeff) and RB Singletary absolutely abused the Eagles' defense by keeping them on their heels the majority of their plays.

Why we stubbornly continue to stick with our boring, "slow it down", "get the plays signaled in slowly", "eat up the clock", "ball control" offense is truly baffling. If we will just trust the process of doing what Louisiana Tech has always done well FAST-PACED, HIGH TEMPO OFFENSE we can blow this game open.

    Looking at you, Skip Holtz!!!!

It's not baffling. It's called the Fitch Northeast Coast Offense. He's run multiple college offenses into the ground.

    That's not who we are.

As others have stated, Fitch is merely Skip's "eyes from the booth". Skip Holtz calls our offensive plays. Sit on the East side and you can clearly watch Holtz deliberate forever on the next play call and eventually tell Coach Sloan what to signal in to the offense.

If Fitch, being the OC, is not having any influence on HCSC's offensive philosophy, then what the hell is he doing here?

Good question. Maybe Skip just prefers having an OC who only says "here's what I saw from up here" and never offers any opinion on the play calling. Or maybe they are taking 40 seconds to discuss plays??? But Holtz definitely verbally tells Sloan the plays.

IMO, the slow pace of Tech's offensive play calling this year is turning fans off and causing many Tech fans to leave the stadium early due to boredom. No exaggeration....I've heard several people this year say they are BORED watching Tech. I contend that it's due to the extremely slow place of our offensive play calling. I know it's personally very irritating to me when our offense comes up the line of scrimmage, and then all 11 players relax and turn to the Tech sideline like a bunch of meerkats.

There is certainly a growing dislike of the "Meerkat offense".

I don't think we're built for a shoot-out at this point. Definitely need to pick our spots though. I thought we forced enough mistakes against Southern Miss but got satisfied too early. To me, if we simply quit settling for good enough and exert more focus and effort when we have leverage, we'll beat them. Maybe play them similar to UTSA but FINISH!! UTSA crapped that game away more than North Texas won it. It was similar to our debacle against Southern Miss.
    Have you considered those Dogs?

I don't know if our slow tempo offense is protecting J'Mar or the Defense

More importantly, why the hell are we paying for nothing? Hell, I'll take half his salary RIGHT NOW for what he's doing which is the equivalent of season pressbox tickets.

If we aren't throwing the ball early and often, then we deserve to lose this game. Of 129 FBS teams UNT's defense is ranked:
    #109 in passing yards allowed
    #108 in total defense
    #110 in 3rd down conversion % defense
    #104 in 4th down conversion % defense
    #121 in scoring defense
    #122 in red zone defense
