In the 3rd quarter tonight Diaz's #7 ranked Miami defense is shutting out #3 ranked Notre Dame 34 - ZERO .
Imagine the culture shift (shock) if Manny Diaz was our team's head coach instead of Skip Holtz.

Are you reading my mind? Spooky
Have you considered those Dogs?
Would he come back?
I was just thinking about this on the drive home.
Manny deserves a HC position somewhere.
I don't think we can afford him. But it would be nice to have an aggressive coach leading our team.
Final: Miami 41 - ND 8
He’s from Miami and makes more as a coordinator than we would pay a first year head coach. Not that we’ll be looking for a new Head Coach anytime soon.
Yes, he is a blue blood. He will have several opportunities soon. Probably this year.
Having a defensive mind as a HC is not what we need.
Skip Holtz is going to be our head coach for many years to come. Mired in a weak conference and with so many bowl games available, we will continue to wallow in mediocrity, going to second rate bowls every other year or so, some years back to back, perhaps again this year, after beating no one of significance, "competing" in every game, while our peers build for the future and the final great realignment of megaconference creation, after which we will remain, wallowing.
If we don't start GETTING AGRESSIVE AND CREATIVE offensively, defensively, and on special teams we will continue to fail. That is what we need. I don't think Skip Holtz accepts this FACT. His ultra-passive, indecisive, fearful, low risk limitations have permeated this entire team. Cancer must be removed before healing and recovery can occur.
If we are the same mind of team next year attendance will go to only the band and players . Recruiting will be abysmal and we will be in a death spiral that will take a big name hire to reverse.
Has Skip Holtz been applying for coaching positions elsewhere? Anyone know? Usually, when a coach is, it leaks out or gets reported that such-and-such coach is on the short list for some vacancy. I have not seen anything like that re: Holtz. There are a ton of chitty programs out there, like Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Oregon State, and some others, and even some G5s with deeper pockets that, one would think, would be attractive to a coach who fancies himself as "good" and deserving more money.
Holtz's best chance to be "attractive" to some other school came after we beat Navy in the bowl. That game was ranked 3rd most entertaining bowl game. It drew rave reviews and yes, Holtz garnered a lot of credit for it. I half expected him to get hired away after that bowl game.
Back to the question, does anyone know if Skip Holtz has thrown his hat in the ring for other jobs in recent years?
