I hope they were looking around instead of just taking pictures.
No one is there.
Those that are there aren't wearing blue.
Few are even wearing red.
Glad they showed up to watch that shitshow but damn we need some cohesion.
To those complaining that we're complaining about colors too much - uniforms create comradery and bind people into units. They set people apart into special offices (police, military, pastor, judge) and signify that status. The total lack of direction in the team and fanbase here is concerning. We're not Oregon - their whole uniform is to not have one (which is fine, even if silly).
Out of town yesterday so kissed the game. Looked at box score last night thinking we must have really struggled offensively & was stunned that we had over 500 yds of total offense & only scored 23 pts. I assume we really struggled in the red zone cuz we definitely moved the ball. ??
Just noticed that FAU lost to Buffalo which is second to last in the MAC East
Kiffin made adjustments. He doesn't care who's feelings he hurts, or what people think about him. He is going to not just win games, but destroy the competition so he can get out of FAU and back into the "national" scene. He has brought in tranfers, JuCos,... whatever it takes to WIN TODAY.
He understands that his job is to WIN FOOTBALL GAMES, not play them closely, get to 6-6, and sneak into the Popeye's Bahamas Bowl.
We had 40 mins of TOP to their 20 mins. Ya know, it's a good thing they didn't have the ball for another 10 mins or so....they might have really kicked our ass!
Let's compare some quotes from the HC's after the game:
SKIP HOLTZ: "Yeah, we came in at halftime and had 24 more plays than them, and I thought this had the makings to be a really competitive football game, but some things happened in the first half that got us down a little bit. We gave up two big plays in man coverage, double pass on one of them."
SKIP HOLTZ: "This was a long game. This was a physical game. I think Coach Kiffin has done a really nice job there. They made the big plays today, and we tried to load the box, stop the running game a little bit and lost our eyes in man."
QUESTION TO LANE KIFFIN:Q. It seemed like two touchdowns in the first half were -- you were using the aggressiveness of the Tech defense against them with the little flea flicker play and also the fake screen for the touchdown. Was that something you saw coming into the game or a byproduct of what they were doing that you saw in the first half?
LANE KIFFIN RESPONSE:
"That was really -- I just felt that even if we missed them, we had to do that because everyone is just playing us down like this because of our run game. And these guys did exactly what we thought. They played man on us every snap in the first half with an extra guy in the box, so felt that if we took these and hit them -- but even if you miss them at least then they've got to back up a little bit and you can run the ball a little better later, which is what we did."
SKIP HOLTZ:"After the first half I think the game had all the makings to be a competitive game, but again, in the second half we just -- we moved the ball well, but again, we sputtered at times and were just very limited in what we were able to get done. It's hard without a running game, and that's what we've got to look at hard with what we're doing and giving our players a chance, but our players have got to take some responsibility on what we've got to do to get better in the running game, as well."
LANE KIFFIN: "You've got to look at your program as a whole; if you're going to be a championship program, you've got to get rid of your flaws as you go because they're going to come up. We're going to keep playing good teams and better teams, and if you go to Conference Championship and bowl game and those things, they're going to get better, so you need to get rid of those, so today was really good to be able to do that, get rid of the passing issue that we've had lately."
QUESTION TO KIFFIN: Kerrith Whyte, the first kickoff return in school history. Could you just talk about that?
LANE KIFFIN: "Yeah, it really was a great play by him. We didn't block a guy and the guy was right there, so that's not coaching, that's recruiting."
Dr Guice yet again showed his awesome leadership by sitting on the East side among the students who did show up. Dr Guice has a very nice suite in the new press box, but would rather be with his students. He has really fought to bring our athletics to the promised land.
It’s not unlike the ancient story of Moses leading the Israelites to the River Jordan and saying there is the land of milk and honey for the taking just as promised. But then the Israelites (HCSH) said oh we must be very careful and conservative or we could possibly fail.
No HCSH! You were supposed to charge in like Joshua the worrier and take it - but you hesitated. You were not one of us, and yet we brought you into the Tech Family and gave you a wonderful opportunity and equipped you with better facilities and support than any Tech coach before you and all we asked was for you to take the fight to our opponents, but now it seems you may be more concerned about Skip Holts not losing than Louisiana Tech winning.
I believe that Les sitting with the students must mean something. He surely has noticed the drop off in student attendance and enthusiasm and hopefully knows who to pin the blame the athletic department - starting at the top. TMac is satisfied with Southland attendance and play. Some of you think he is padding his resume, but it sure ain't working. I don't think NSU or Nicholls would take him now.
