I think they set out the rest of their offensive/defensive series, see how that works. Rest of the quarter and the next would be just too much, afraid we would end up with some unintended consequences.

Fourth quarter tradition at MSU has Davis Wade rocking.

It started several years ago when Dan Mullen referenced the song in his requests for fans to hang on and keep believing. Now it's part of every game.
We gotta make going to LA Tech games cool again.

There were some great crowds, game-day atmospheres for several Fresno State games too. That Hawaii game when they were ranked and we lost in OT was an exciting night of football. Hey....maybe the opponents have something to do with it, especially from the old WAC days.

This year has been horrible. It was mostly dead for NSU....the start of the Moo State game was great, but that fizzled. And every other home game has been more like a funeral home than a football stadium. Maybe all of Tech Nation, from the team to the fans to everyone is just in a collective funk this year.

Hoping against hope....talk about going out on a limb....but if we beat UTEP then maybe, just maybe, we'll have a small, but excited crowd for UTSA.
90 Colorado State game was very good. 97 game vs ulm was as good as it gets. Utah State, A&M in 12 were great. Hawaii game when DD was here all were excellent atmospheres that stand out. I honestly think every game being on tv starting about 4 years ago has hurt attendance as much as anything but that combined with over priced tickets for our market have definitely hurt our attendance the last 3-4 years. I gave up years ago fretting over the crowd size. Give me a boisterous crowd no matter the size and I am happy. It's not my job to sell tickets or balance the budget. I am a fan and booster and I enjoy every game minus 2013 and 2017.

At this rate, our AD will ask the ticket price be raised another 20% to make up for the reduction in gross ticket sales next year.

The game against Fresno where Moats ran for a ton of yards was electric. The Utah State game in 2012 when the orange Bowl committee was present was good, except for the result.

Just make any player --who has to be escorted from the field by handlers-- sit out the rest of the current quarter as well as the following quarter. Pampered snowflakes....

Last year I was watching game, don't remember who was playing, and some big ole 280 lb, powerfully built specimen of a defensive lineman had his thumb bent back...I mean all the way back til it touched his wrist. They showed it on the replay, his thumb got caught in the facemask of an OL and when that 300 lb dude kept lunging forward and the guy's thumb went OUCH!

Okay, I know that had to hurt. I get it. I have had broken bones before and such. But! that 280 lb specimen of a DL sat on the field grimacing in pain and the trainers had to go out to him and they sat there for 5 mins....GET THE EFF OFF THE FIELD YA PANSIE!!! It's your thumb, I think you can walk to the bench. Sheeesh!

Hell, I destroyed my finger playing softball, dove for a ball in the outfield and my finger came out looking like the letter Z. I trotted in to the dugout and advised our manager I was finished for the night. He says, "Why? What's the problem?" I held up my hand....he was like, OMG! I then drove myself to the hospital. It was broken in 7 places they said. How's that possible? It's a finger, not enough room for "7 places!"

I read something that said coaches would rather a hurt player stay on the field rather than leaving on their own, because it gives them more time to make an unanticipated substitution. So maybe the guy wasn't a pansie, just doing what the coach told him to do.

Of course he is doing what the coach said. That's the "slow down tactic" that has been being used against us since Dykes was here. Coaches got the idea from watching soccer.

We've actually started using it some too.

Tickets prices are too high for local families to attend. Have some promotions for families every game. That doesn't devalue the brand, it exposes the brand to potential students.

Were there any promotions for veterans last Saturday?

Maybe for those in uniform, but I don't do instagram and twitter so I have no way of knowing. The Boy Scouts were given a discount last year, but did not get one this year.

Bottom line for me is that for a University the size of Tech, the football experience should be much more than it is. Yes, I know the team isn't that good. As in these posts, some blame the coaching, some blame the AD, etc. Likely some or all of that is valid. But when I compare the atmosphere to those of first Texas high school games, and then certainly to those games for the universities in Texas (I am most familiar with Texas A&M since my kids graduated from there), regardless of how good the team is, going to the game and pre-game tailgate is always a wonderful and exciting time. At Aggies games, when the corp band march through the campus, it is lined with people 5-8 deep with excitement as the band comes through. Compare that to the Tech band that was marching to the Pavillion and then when playing, a total of about 10 people stood up and clapped when the fight song was played. During the game, the student side was only about 1/3 full and after the rain delay, it was much less so. Compare that to an Aggie or Longhorn game (not comparing the numbers per se as that wouldn't be fair...... but comparing the student sides to the capacity of the stadium) as neither team isn't that good this year and it is still full. There is excitement in the stands, even if it explodes when the rare touchdown is made (this year anyway). When we sat on the alumni side, few if any would even standup for the fight song much less clap, yell, etc. In fact, most of those around us were watching the Houston Astro playoff game on their phones vs. even paying attention to the game. All in all, it was one of the most disappointing experiences I have had for a while, even more so when I was looking so forward to being back in Ruston.
As I have attended the alumni functions when the coaches from football, basketball, baseball, etc. have spoken, they talk about the teams and the great atmosphere. Sorry, but that was no where to be found for me. Will I make the drive from Houston back to Ruston again? No time soon for sure. Was really hoping for something better for sure.

This is not the year to come for sure. The MSt game could have set the tone for the year. There was a great crowd and lots of excitement before the game and for the first quarter. The beat down started and the fans started leaving. The SC game had a chance to keep fans and we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. We have continued to have terrible play calling and played for FGs since then, and quite honestly the die-hards don't really want to be there and have no faith that we will compete. It is hard to get the casual fan coming when that happens. It has been a very long season already.

There were a few festivities but nothing really to brag about. I chalked it up to a late arriving crowd and couldn't wait for the students to come, fill the student section and make the stadium a really bad place for the opposing team. Again, severely disappointed. We sat on the "alumni" side and it was the quietest crowd I have been around in many years. No excitement..... nothing. The student section was about 1/3 filled and they could have cared less as well. The game ended up being delayed due to weather and once play resumed, many of the student side left and there was noticeably a smaller crowd on the alumni side. To be frank, it was embarrassing! What has happened to Tech? We previously had thought about making the trip from Texas back to Ruston for homecoming, etc. but quickly gave up on that idea. So disappointed in the overall experience! is this a product of the team not being that good this year or has the support just eroded over time to a level that competes with Texas high school ball? Not sure I will make the effort to ever come back again. What has happened?
When did you graduate from Tech? I graduated in 2005. The aesthetic appeal of the stadium, atmosphere during pre-game, and overall atmosphere at games is much improved from when I was a student and thereafter. We have made a ton of progress. It's not great right now because we're losing, but it's been really, really good compared to where it used to be.
