Yeah. FAU didn't have 10K at the conference championship game they just hosted in perfect weather. They wouldn't bring 500 fans to Shreveport. No way FAU was ever under consideration for the Indy Bowl despite RL3's dream scenario. If the Indy Bowl actually invited FAU, they would have to file for bankruptcy the next day.
Well, initially I hoped for ibowl because I thought a fresh start with Shrv would be good, and I like a couple of their staff. I was going to buy extra tickets, promote, etc. NOW I don't think I'd go under any circumstances. Fourth choice, no way for any fresh start. Just verifies what we've thought all along.
Tech's going to have a good week over here, watch the news. Losers are Shreveport sports fans related businesses.
We got a better date, location, opponent, and venue. I have nothing against the Independence Bowl, but we probably got the best overall draw of anybody in CUSA. Can't wait!!!
Have you considered those Dogs?
I actually agree with this. I know most of the wives of you LA Tech guys are going to enjoy the Frisco/McKinney/Allen/Plano area much better than most of these inner-city bowl places. In addition to all the great things to see in Frisco (and there are a lot), please make sure that you and your wife check out the following:
- McKinney's Downtown Square (probably 12 miles away), with lot's of shops, stores, restaurants, pubs, etc... All this, and it has a kinda "Mayberry" feel to it.
- Allen's Outlet Mall on Hwy 75 (probably 10 miles away), I promise you, you and your wife have never seen an outlet mall this nice. It's got everything.
- Plano's Legacy Town Center (probably 1-3 miles away), with lots of upscale restaurants, high end shopping, pubs, and nightlife clubs.
I-Bowl Wednesday 12:30PM kickoff, I don't think there will be a big local turnout for this one. Many will prob watch it on TV or not care.
Indy bowl was always at bottom of my list just above the NM bowl. The last 3 years we have been to real bowls with great or historic venues. My family has enjoyed a few days away during Christmas and I'd take all three bowl experiences over the Indy bowl ANY day and every year and it is not even close. I couldn't believe Bleed Tech Blue and some others were actually WANTING to play in SHV, those folks must have not traveled to other bowls the last few years. Excited about going back to DFW for another bowl and looking forward to seeing Toyota Stadium for first time.
I could have attended the Indy Bowl, can't make Frisco. With the way the holiday falls, I would think many more people are off work the Wednesdday after Christmas vs. the Wednesday before. Even with the Frisco bowl being at night, I can't make the trip.
