LaTech SKIP HOLTZ - SpecTECHular Career So Far

... 38 wins-3 bowls and qualified for 4tH over 4 year -- #3 on win list over last 40 years Spectacular was hyperboly

#1 since 2013 for NFL draft we are #1 for draftees in non power 5 --don't give me the he inherited-- our staff developed these guys
he has been frontman on huge money drive with alumn. he has created tremendous family atmosphere with program

But of course we have the haters ( or strong critics) who have little understanding of his past career-- Offensive co-ordinator for ND when they went 21-2 and 3rd in nation offense. coached on 8 New years day bowl games in different capacities
CUSA coach of year last year But of course that is not enough for --soften up- critics

compare to past coaches since I went to first Tech game in 65: Aillet from 1940 -1966 151-86 -8tie 66% w/l Lambright til 1978 95-36 2 72% proof that stability helps

since then (about 40 years) --wins Jack Bicknel ( who had way to many money games) 43 wins--- google and see his 3-4 money games per year schedule --we were desparate for money
    Joe Raymond peace 40-44 SO #1 43 #2 is 40 wins
How does Skip stack up?? 37-28 ( off wiki if I'm wrong) -- 7 more wins puts him #1 in modern era .

    how can anyone denigrate that -- Now how about w/l record over last 40 years -- #1 Crowton 61% (21-13) the Tim R days #2 AL Williams 59.4% 28-19 Dykes#3 59.5% 22-15

Coach Holtz at #4 58.5 37-28 we have had 5 coaches with losing records and 1 (Brewer) 19-15 OK --gravy won 1 game for 100% record

Give me your best shot, by this time next year, if he chooses to stay, Coach Holtz will have more wins after 6 years than any coach such Maxie.
Also keep in mind that after every winning coach since then we hired a coach who had losing career except Brewer and Skip

Skips my guy -- NFL guys- Class program and a proven winner .... when he decides to retire I would live to see him AD , assuming TC chose to move on

I agree with you. There are just some disheartened fans after this year. I want Skip to stay for sure. He is stubborn at times and had a rough time this year - in a year that we thought would be one of our best. With injuries and a new QB, though, it just wasn't meant to be. The only thing negative that I will say about Skip is that he is too conservative many times on play calling. When we should go for the jugular, he gets conservative. We lost some really close ones this year and were on the verge of something special, but just didn't get over the hump.

Nobody is calling for him to be fired. Stop saying that!

We have one poster with a clever screen name. That does not define our fan base.

We are upset about the same things we were upset about in 2013. Excuse making is at the top of my list.

Dogsince65, you and I are about the same age since we both entered Tech in the same year, so, I have some advice for you. This is a college sports message board, quit taking everything on here so seriously. You know what they say about opinions, everybody has one and no 2 are alike. Lighten up,man, life is too short now that we're both 70.

Yea, I agree Paw, I keep hearing that over and over, you can count the posters on this board who want HCSH fired on one hand and not use all your digits!

We all have opinions and are expressing them, this is a message board and as far as I am concerned there have been some spot on opinions on here. Someone critiquing a coach and program and having a different opinion does not make them a moron.

Re: SKIP Holtz -- Spectacular career so far

“Spectacular” is most definitely not the right word for Holtz’s career. Yes, he’s accomplished some good things for Tech but even in those accomplishments I’m sure even he would say that he fell short of achieving all of his/the team’s goals. I agree that Tech is on a good path right now but there can’t be any let down or back sliding.

This year’s 6-6 season is not good enough and not what the Tech base will be satisfied with. Holtz is the man responsible no matter what the complications are. Recruit better, hire better coaches, condition better, coach better... do what has to be done to achieve, period.

Keep up the good work Skip and do better.

I did say " a few" -- just thought a history lesson would be appropriate after appropriate -- now I'm not sure what the difference in excuse making and explanation is-- I will take your advise and "stop" saying that" except retort to the few. I do believe some prospects see an abundance of negativity when they come to BBB --that does bother me -

good advice-- I used "spectacular" as a hyperbole -- and the "moron" was from one poster with byline of "fire Holtz". I will see if I can delete that line and focus on records --

Next year (2018) will be Skip's last season as Tech's HC. I have the proof. Book it.

Good move, that "M" word was an insult: to morons, even they wouldn't pitch firing Skip now. Don't get too chill on us. We'd miss ya.

OK--now take this as meant to be funny--You have Masters in politics so have to take everything with grain of salt-- I just hope if you are coreect he will leave with at least 47 wins ( modern record is 43) and the CUSA title and 5 straight bowls ... I have no proof and can't book it. you did leave door open for Tommy moving on and Skip as AD-- got no problem with TM but would like to see Skip stay with Tech ....

When people stop complaining and criticizing the coach and players, we will be on par with NLULM. Thank heaven we have an engaged (albeit small) rabid fan base.

I wish we had a few thousand more calling for coach firings and player benchings. Doesn't mean I want that to happen, just means more folks care.
