I generally always cheer for whoever is playing the ul twins. And I usually pull (preemptive twss) for Tech's opponents.

    So no problems there ...

Brett McMurphy still has us in Frisco vs. SMU
    * Florida State is pushing to get into the Gasparilla Bowl in St. Petersburg. The Seminoles technically would have to be bypassed by every ACC bowl to be available for a non-ACC bowl. But I’m told FSU is lobbying to play in St. Pete. If FSU is not successful getting to St. Pete, the Seminoles would probably end up in the Independence Bowl. If FSU gets to St. Pete, it’s unknown if they would play the American rep (USF) or C-USA rep (FAU). This one could get interesting.
    * Nothing’s official until Sunday but … these appear locked in (unless there are some major upsets in the conference title games that shuffle the bowl lineup):Michigan State-LSU in Citrus
Kentucky in Music City, most likely vs. Purdue
    Virginia-Navy in Military
    Memphis-UCF winner to Peach
    Memphis-UCF loser to Liberty
    Michigan to Outback
    Utah to Heart of Dallas
Fresno State (if it loses MWC title game) to Foster Farms
    SMU to Frisco
    FIU to Boca Raton
    North Texas to New Orleans

New Mexico State, if eligible, to Arizona

Would love to see us in Frisco! Great city, new bowl location so local excitement. Would be nice have football for bowl game, baseball for Frisco Classic, and basketball for CUSA tournaments all in Frisco in four months.

For Tech, this is the bowl for us. In the heart of the DFW market we are trying to recruit students. I suspect Tech attendance will be lower this year regardless of location and Frisco is a very small stadium which should be filled for the game. If we play SMU it will be a lot of blue and red.

Ordinarily I would like the idea of playing SMU in the Frisco Bowl too. The only downside is, we don't match up well with an SMU team that passes the football 99% of the time. Tech might lose to SMU, 56-10. That's why I think a matchup with Army might be better.

I agree, but I think we are underdogs in any game we will play in and I would hate to lose to SMU. Losing to Army is probably better for the folks who live the the metroplex.

I've read a lot on here about the Dawgs needing the extra practices for next year. Wouldn't that make the indy bowl a "good" choice since it is played on 12/27?

My preference is the Frisco Bowl for the reason stated in the other posts. Not too keen on the size of stadium but it would look good on TV to have a capacity crowd. After that, I like the Armed Forces Bowl. Again, because it gives us presence in DFW. The NOLA Bowl is lowest on my list.

    .
Some believe the extra practices are an important part of going bowling. I'm not one of those and think it is more of a coach speak talking point. We didn't use all of our practices last year. This year our coaches will be focused on early signing so I'm not sure how productive practice will be anyway.

The later the bowl is the more practices they can get in. Skip has said he prefers the latest bowl possible for that reason.

    CUSA Bowl Projections:

    http://www.sunherald.com/sports/college/conference-usa/article187357953.html

Armed Forces Bowl (Dec. 23) — La. Tech (6-6) vs. Army (8-3) — Louisiana Tech fans have traveled well to the DFW area and I’m sure bowl officials have taken note of that.

The AFB is a very good bowl game (was #3 overall game last year), and is probably MUCH better than we deserve this year. Also, Army is probably a team that Tech matches up with very well this year. I like it.

That would be the perfect game for us this year.
