Part of the horse-trading is probably to get NMSU into the New Mexico Bowl. That would trade C-USA's spot there with Arizona.

My thought as well. NMSU doesn't want to travel and risk losing $ since they're already on a razor thin budget.

Update: Evidently the Fiesta Bowl snowball effect is what’s messed up the Arizona Bowl selection. Word is that Utah State May be on the chopping block. Bowl Executive is on the phone with conferences as we speak.
