But unless you have something showing that we didn't get extra practice time playing on the 23rd vs. playing 19th (it would be 16th vs. 23rd this year for the same two bowls), then it's not B.S.
Okay, if you want to believe the "bowls are important because of extra practice" go ahead. I don't buy it.

I read somewhere that the NCAA limits bowl teams to a total of 15 practices. That's it. Doesn't matter if the bowl game you're playing in is on Dec 17th or January 5th, you are still limited to only 15 practices.

You read something that was incorrect.

"I think it's at the top of the list for the advantages of having it," Flood said last season of bowl practices. "It's akin to having an extra spring. It's not a guarantee of anything. But it is extra practice time and as coaches we want that. I think with this football team the extra practice time would be very valuable to a young football team."

I disagree with the coach. Practices aren't important. I think Tech should not do Spring training either.

of course you don't! you don't see the value of taking next years players and let them begin to bond. Players who are graduating give way to next generation -- I absolutely believe the extra bowl practice time is an advantage

Great idea! I'm sure if Tech does it everyone else will fall in line.

Some would sell their children for Tech to host a P5, yet they would pass on playing one in Shreveport in a bowl game?

    Independence Bowl or bust!

I also knew about the "myth" stories. Unfortunately, some of the "myth stories" have been called a myth.

They need a few more practices "to begin to bond" with the guys they've played with all year?

Is the extra bowl practice what put UAB and FAU over the top?

I'm not saying it is a bad thing, just that the practice part of the deal is way over blown.

Totally agree! I have had that opinion for many years. If it is such a great thing, what happened this year?

Well they didn't get the extra practices in 2013. That must have been the problem.

Well, you should see what woulda happened without those practice days. This year's team would have struggled just to get bowl eligible, would have not been able to hang tough late in games. In fact, we woulda struggled just to get to 6-6.

Seriously though, how do we know we mighta finished 3-9 or something?
