Well, you should see what woulda happened without those practice days. This year's team would have struggled just to get bowl eligible, would have not been able to hang tough late in games. In fact, we woulda struggled just to get to 6-6.

Seriously though, how do we know we mighta finished 3-9 or something?

We don't. Just like we don't actually know if all these extra practices are the panacea that some believe.

CUSA needs a prized, go-to bowl game for our champion. Well, things have changed from the days when every conference had THE bowl every team wanted to play in. The Big 10 and Pac 10 used to vie for a trip to the Rose Bowl. The SEC champ always went to the Sugar Bowl, and there were others. The playoffs have forever changed that for the "big" boys. And now CUSA would like to place a team in one of the New Year's Six Access Bowls every year! But, I'd like to see CUSA have a really, really nice bowl for our champion, one that every CUSA team would want to go to if falling short of an Access Bowl.

This year, for instance, there is speculation that FAU will go to this bowl or that one, and UNT is apparently locked in to a Texas-based bowl, win or lose today. I would prefer there to be a bowl, opposite a P5 team, where our champion goes to, again, if not getting an Access Bowl, in which case the other division winner would get the host spot.

That's what we had with the Heart of Dallas Bowl- CUSA vs P5 Big Ten / Big 12 rotating. However, CUSA mysteriously gave that away this year so that those two P5s could play each other instead and CUSA could play Army.

But, even the HoD Bowl was not THE designated bowl for our champion. I don't think the CUSA champ has ever played in it. We weren't conference champs in 2014.

Mainly because there's no way in heck they want eastern schools in the HOD bowl and the east has been winning the championship every year.

No reason that there won't be at least 8 C-USA teams bowling (9 if NMSU loses), and Tech should be one of the 8.
