Source: Tennessee is closing in a deal with Purdue coach Jeff Brohm. UT interviewed Chad Morris of SMU last night but apparently UT favors Brohm.

They may very well hire Brohm, but I will wait for a press conference with the AD and coach. Gruden, Schiano, Cutcliffe, Gundy and Brohm. The list grows. With Tennessee and their AD's you never know. I wouldn't be shocked if they canned Currie and brought back Fulmer as AD, he should already have the job anyway.

    Gundy got PAID.

Tennessee needs to go the way of the "gimmick" offense given the level of HS football in their area.

I think Brohm's missing out on really building something good if leaves Purdue for what I think is a very unstable TN job.

I guess I am closer because I have a co-worker who is a Purdue alum.

Wonder if Rice would try to get Graham back. He was good for them.

Maybe, but I thought the way he left was shady. I imagine opinion would be mixed if we were to go after Sonny again...and I think he left in a much more traditional manner than Graham (I believe he took the job a few days after he signed a big extension).

The chatter from coaches across the land over the past two hours has been that Jeff Brohm is more likely to agree to a new contract at Purdue than to jump to Tennessee at this time.

Working off the assumption that is likely, which we’re told it is, sources with knowledge of Tennessee’s plans tell FootballScoop the Vols intend to pivot to NC State head coach Dave Doeren. In five seasons at NC State, Doeren has posted a 31-29 regular season record (wins per year: 3, 7, 7, 6, 8).

Yep, you're probably correct that he burned his bridges at Rice, and pretty much everywhere he's been.

A source confirms that Washington OC Jonathan Smith is returning home to Oregon State as HC, as @johncanzanobft first reported. Interviewed a few weeks ago, school circled back around.

I’m dead serious when I tell you guys this, yesterday Oregon State was thinking about Dennis Erickson (70) as HC, Smith as his OC…& now Smith gets the job

Let's see.... Tennessee went rescinding a MOU with Greg Schiano to being turned down from David Cutcliffe, Mike Gundy and Jeff Brohm. Now they want Dave Doeren. At least they are now focusing on a guy who wants out of his current job apparently, although other websites report he has been in negotiations at NC State this week. He is wanting an extension through 2023 with a raise and multi year contracts for his assistants with raises for them also. If Doeren turns UT down some successful high school coach in Knoxville is about to get rich.
