I just am in shock that Miles College and UT Tyler didn't prepare us for a real team. But hey - at least we scored more than 100 points against them!

I am so sick of hearing Dave Nitz say “long pass up court to an open player for the dunk”

We don’t get back on defense and it cost us this game and the Alabama game.

    Also, our D is questionable

I can't think of anything suitably sarcastic to say.

Kevon Harris missed ONE SHOT. 27 points.

Just one more speed bump for other, more successful programs.

I guess we're "good" as long as we're playing the bottom of the barrel.

SFA simply wanted it more. SFA came to play. We didn't. Our guys tried to sleep walk to a win as if we were still playing Miles College. Night and day difference in intensity until the very end when our guys realized we were in a dogfight. We were L-A-Z-Y tonight. Lazy on defense. Lazy rebounding. Lazy passing. Unacceptable effort. And Bracey just wanted to put on a dribbling show. We made no adjustments. Failure by our coaching staff too.

Bad trend developing... Play a non-DI opponent, then don't play any defense the following game:

    - Sleep walk through UT-Tyler, then play no defense against SEMO and escape in OT. Embarrassing defensive effort.

    - Sleep walk through Miles College, then play no defense against SFA and lose by 2 at home. Gave up 85 tonight when KenPom said we should only give up 67. Still waiting for KP to update the stats.

Stop scheduling non-DIs! And stop telling us these games benefit us cuz they don't. We aren't stupid.

Update: KenPom posted our defensive efficiency vs. SFA, and it somehow even worse than the SEMO game (120.6)!

Our defensive effort tonight would essentially rank as the 2nd worst defensive performance any year since we hired Mike White 7 seasons ago. Only the ridiculous Marshall game last year was worse than tonight.

Our defense following non-DI opponents are our only games with defensive efforts worse than 97, and they are both worse than 120!

We allowed SFA to have their best offensive efficiency this year against a DI opponent. FAMU, ULM, Miss. State, Longwood, and NDSU all played better defense against SFA than we did.

We always give our opponents what they want. When they're decent enough to take it, they do.

Then we play someone who's not good enough to take it, like Miles, and swagger around campus spouting the score like it's something to be proud of.

    M. Basketball. LA Tech Suffers First Home Loss of the Season

A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:

Louisiana Tech had its 11-game home winning streak snapped on Wednesday night as Stephen F. Austin scored the game-winning basket with five seconds left to break the 13th tie of the game in what ended with a final score of 85-83 inside the Thomas Assembly Center.

We’ll be alright. Players can’t be happy after this.

Blue Dawg.. man I can be as pessimistic as they come. You went to Arkansas for grad school if I’m not mistaken and since then you’ve been such a downer w/ tech sports. Dude if you don’t love tech then stop caring! Did you start pulling for tech when you became a student? That answer will explain it all.

I've loved Tech since I set foot on campus. Grad school is tough and Dawg sports just make me more stressed instead of relieving stress.

The Mississippi State game killed my expectations. I'll never stop cheering for the Dawgs but I don't have the energy to expect any success anymore (plenty of energy to bitch though). Follow that up with all of the "almost good" games we've had even since I've been a fan and it's just exhausting.

Re: M. Basketball. LA Tech Goes Up Against Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday Night

Fun game with a nice, lively crowd. My main criticism isn't that Bracey depended on his drive and finish too much, it's that he waited too late in the shot clock to attempt it. Too many times, he left himself with no other option because we just played around the perimeter until the last 5 seconds and then Bracey had to try to force a circus play before the buzzer sounded. We need to hunt for decent shots earlier in the possession. SFA obviously knew we had no options and simply collapsed on Bracey. Also, when he broke a trap he just kept dribbling instead of exploiting their vulnerability by letting someone take a shot or make a play at the basket.

Hat's off to SFA. They kept pressuring the ball and were really good with help-side defender poking the ball away or tying up the penetration with active hands (TWSS). #1 for them (Harris) was really good all night on both sides of the ball. We missed several gimmes and dunks throughout the game. We also allowed them to have multiple possessions and lost offensive rebounds because they simply slapped the ball out of hands or kept it alive by tipping it around. Bracey fell into a dribbling exhibition because they pressured him full court and he seemed intent on showing he could beat his man.

Special thanks to Dwayne for giving my family his tickets and a Tenacious delivery service!
