I’m reminded of Red from Shawshank.
“He’s not crazy, just....institutionalized.”
No inside presence on offense or defense still loses basketball games. I know Konkol is all about building his team on guards & small forwards that are athletic BUT ULaLa gave us a clinic on how to move the ball (it’s called passing not dribbling) to create offensive opportunities- many of which were in the paint. That’s not Konkols game but we lose to every team in conference & out that has bugs that can score, rebound & play some defense. We are soft inside. No matter what your offensive approach you still gotta be able to guard people & rebound.
100 percent on Konkol. He talked about our passivity in the post-game.
LOOK IN THE MIRROR DUDE.
He stood on the sideline for 29 minutes of game action and never tried to shake things up with the press. Not once.
Finally called it and we immediately got a spark and a turnover. That is what gave us a fire and a chance. Why did we not even think about it sooner?
Extremely frustrating night as a fan.
All they do is jack up a bunch of 3s. It doesn't even appear that our team even practices, our coach does no coaching, they play like it is the first they met each other on the playground.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
Down by as much as 18 points in the game, the Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team mounted a furious comeback late in the second half but the Bulldogs ran out of time as they fell to Louisiana-Lafayette, 75-71, on Tuesday night inside the Thomas Assembly Center.

Discuss it here.
We miss McCree's rebounding more than his scoring imo. Their offensive boards down the stretch were miserable to endure.
Have you considered those Dogs?
"Almost University" does it again.....
We either have a tremendous tournament team that wins in Frisco because everything's on the line every game or we have a problem. Eric's a good strategy coach and his players respect him and try to do what he asks. But he doesn't generate enthusiasm and while I love our players, right now we don't have a Speedy Smith kind of player that can do the job of cranking up the team to play to its potential. The lazy, inattentive passing and lackadaisical dribbling against a fast, athletic ULL in the first half cost us the game. We play the first half like we played the second half and we beat ULL going away and by 20±
The problem is, with the way things are we'll have to win the CUSA tournament because we probably won't have the resume this year for an at-large bid to the NCAA. And I think we had a fair shot for some (enough) NCAA sympathy votes if we had the resume because we've won so much the last few years but been left out.
Maybe we can still build that resume but we need to beat Texas on Saturday, and have an extremely good conference record. Pretty tall order but it can be done. But we really do have to take it one game at a time and start playing the WHOLE game, the ENTIRE game with passion and enthusiasm!
I thought Tech would lose this game.
Yesterday afternoon during the preview segment on his radio show I told Fox there is one simple thing to understand about this series with the Cajuns. Since it was renewed in 2013 one team treats this as a rivalry game and the other does not.
Since 2013 Tech has trailed by double digits in every contest in the first half. Even in the game we won in 2015 we still trailed by 10 in the second half. We simply don't match their intensity. They forced 11 first half turnovers, which matched our per game average. We had 18 turnovers for the game.
Had we come anywhere close to matching their intensity in the first half we would have been fine.
Give Bob Marlin credit. He understands his fanbase and their interest in this game. Back in 2013 a lot was said about this game from the Cajuns side. The one thing that stood out for me was what was said in a radio interview Cajun point guard Elfrid Payton did after the game where he said the team started preparing for the Tech game during a summer tour their team did in Spain in August of that year. The pregame stories about the game also pointed to the fact the Cajuns had been preparing since the preseason for that night.
At the same time, Mike White thought so little of the game in 2013 he scheduled a road game a few days prior at Jackson State during the team's return trip from a tournament in Florida. He was completely oblivious to the situation. Konkol has been just as bad. Last night proved it.
Again, one team treats this as rivalry game. The other does not.
