Bowl Game Skip vs Regular Season Skip...

Watching the game last night I was simply astounded by how dominate our defense looked against what was supposed to be a top 10 offense in the country. I felt like once again there was a different coach on the field that I had seen only three times before. We all seem to have differing opinions on Skip and what he has done in his 5 years in Ruston, but no one can say he hasn't got the whole "Winning Bowl games" thing figured out. Why the heck can't we get Bowl Game Skip to coach the other 12 to 13 games a season? That coach is awesome!

Guess we'd have a chance to go undefeated in the regular season with 3 weeks between games.

I don't think its that. There is a different amount of aggression in play calling during bowl games. A stronger intensity.

And Skip called a TRICK PLAY....too bad Smith dropped the pass.

Skip knows how to prepare a team for a bowl game. Which begs the question, why haven't we seen a better result from the first games of the season under him? I can only recall the past two at the moment, NSU and the 1-pt loss at Arkansas. In '13, I think, we got donkey-stomped by a mediocre NC State. I can't remember '14 and '15...

Anyway, to stay positive (for a moment), Skip has a demonstrated ability to have his team ready for a bowl. The excitement after the game when the players went nuts with the BOP during "Neck." I said to myself, this game really meant something to them. You can't artificially create that kind of excitement, it has to be genuine. But, more than the motivation/focus of the team, Skip and his staff have done a great job with the X's and O's for the 4 bowl wins. The Dawgs were prepared, and ready, to play, and only a good coaching staff can get that done.

Neck was dynamite. Whole team ran over to the end zone to the band, several Bulldogs climbed into the stands to dance with the band, oh my gosh it was great to be there for that. Glad you mentioned it.

Also awesome late in fourth quarter to see our Bulldogs flashing four fingers to the fans for the four bowl wins. God I'm happy for our players.

Speaking for this season, having the starting OL and overall healthy players for the bowl game certainly made a positive difference.

Healthy starters, a dominating defense (almost no 3-man rush prevent defense) and UP TEMPO OFFENSE were the big difference. That was our fastest paced offense we ran all season and it kept SMUs defense on their heals.

Now you know we can't have that, because we might win a national championship or something.

There are those who disagree at least partially.
    (not me )

Oh, and you can add academically eligible JC LB's

No academic casualties this time? J/A

I agree on the health of the players, it made a difference, I am still critical of a few things, but everyone being healthy helps.
