So, LA Tech is 1st in the nation in defensive scoring TD's & 2nd in INT's? WOW!
Of course, this simply means that LA Tech should NOT have lost 6 games this season.
Louisiana Tech looked so fresh and rested....fast and more physical compared to the rest of the year. I think we were more banged up than we ever realized.....but all the pieces came into place last night.
I do believe we had a lot of injuries, that was obvious at times, but how many were really legitament ? I am wondering if conditioning had something to do with that, I couldn't say myself, maybe we just have a lot of snowflakes.
I don't know if any of you follow Hester on twitter, but he took a shot at all of the "Tech Haters", I assume that was probably some of the strong critics here and probably on BTB(not a member, don't know).
Kurt Hester @TheKurtHester
Winningest senior class in Tech history, only group of 5 with 4 straight bowl wins, 2 records never been done in Tech HISTORY. Now what derogatory comments about this team & coaching staff are fake Tech fans going to say now about this team?
BTW, Marshall is currently on a 5-game bowl win streak, although it may not be the last 5 years straight.
Speaking of which...we were one of nine schools to end last year on at least a 3-game bowl win streak. WKU was one of the nine, but they lost this year. I think one of the nine didn't make a bowl this year, so only 8 had a chance to continue the streak. Had the whole list somewhere....from memory it included, Tech, WKU, and Marshall, and Utah, Boston College, Tennessee, Clemson, and....can't remember.
Found it!
Coming into this bowl season it was:
1. TECH
2. Utah
3. WKU
4. Virginia Tech
5. Clemson
6. Georgia
7. Stanford
8. Wisconsin
9. Tennessee
Not Marshall or BC.
Apparently the CFP championship doesn't count
2017/01/09 Clemson 35 - Alabama 31 W !! CFP Championship !!
2016/12/31 Clemson 31 - Ohio St 0 W !! Fiesta Bowl !!
2016/01/11 Clemson 40 - Alabama 45 L !! CFP Championship !!
2015/12/31 Clemson 37 - Oklahoma 17 W !! Orange Bowl !!
2014/12/29 Clemson 40 - Oklahoma 6 W !! Russell Athletic Bowl !!
2014/01/03 Clemson 40 - Ohio St 35 W !! Orange Bowl !!
2012/12/31 Clemson 25 - LSU 24 W !! Chick-fil-A Bowl !!
I suppose one could eliminate Clemson from the list, but the list specifically focuses on bowl games. Not too many teams could win two post season games, and it's not fair to hold, even a Clemson, to that standard. But, they get Bama in the Sugar Bowl in about a week, so we'll see.
Meantime, Tech is the only G5 continuing on to 2018 still on the list.
You know, with the decades of bowl drought we suffered through....this is fun. YES!! I know the bowl landscape has changed with 40 bowls and 6-6 teams getting in in droves each year. Trust me....I KNOW! But...I'm enjoying the hell out of this! Been to all four bowls and "lost" myself in them. Meaning, I just focused on the bowl game itself, without all the analysis of team records, etc... I don't allow "the noise" to lessen the experience for me.
Next year, let's make it FIVE in a row!
Go Dawgs!
Utah is playing WVU in the HoD Bowl. Go Mountaineers! Not that I really care, 'cept I want another school eliminated from the list.
The Utah coach is 10-1 in bowls. Says he does bowl practices hitting in full pads. Apparently that works.
Oh, another reason to root for WVU, I believe Freeway Dave is alum.
Oops, Utah has already scored early, 7-0.
