Everyone crowing about Bill Clark doesn't realize he got concessions that literally no coach has ever gotten. UAB has been pampered constantly and that only ramped up after their self-imposed death penalty. I normally root for the conference in bowl games, but I'm glad UAB got their asses kicked by a mediocre MAC team.
Part of the deal is having UAB-friendly refs for the tourney. That's the only reason UAB has allowed CUSA to move the venue. They agreed to try it elsewhere, as long as CUSA remembers who is truly important. If this doesn't work out well, for UAB, it'll be back in B'ham soon.
Hoping USM success in the Indy Bowl tomorrow!
And for the I-Bowl sake, I sure hope FSU and USM both bring loads of Fans to ghe the game!
Found it!
Coming into this bowl season it was:
1. TECH
2. Utah
3. WKU
4. Virginia Tech
5. Clemson
6. Georgia
7. Stanford
8. Wisconsin
9. Tennessee
up to S Miss now to break the tie--- when FSU arrived that looked and acted unhappy to be here -- welcoming committee handing out mardi gra beads and most ignored them. I can only imagine the hell they are going through stuck in Shreveport for 4-5 days ..not where they want to be ..
For what its worth , my friends who support Tech respect SM -- you guys bring it in Football-Basketball and Baseball. Your fan base show up in Ruston and many tailgate with us. Your fans are classy when we show up at your place-- us older Tech fans ( 52 years) identify with how the media focusses on Ole Miss and Miss State and basically ignore you guys ... Tech is second best program in state and like you we are ignored-- I doubt you could find 1 person on BBB not pulling for you guys (and Cusa)
One thing I'm noticing re: the teams that are getting kilt! in the bowls, is most of them are minus key players. WVU was missing 5 offensive starters. They had 3 first downs and 84 total yards until that final 70 yard TD drive. Then, Utah stood there and gave them the onside kick. But then the lousy WVU QB quickly threw another pick.
Utah has won 14 of their last 15 bowl games.
