    Last Big Win?

When was our last big win in Football that actually had a great impact on our program?

I believe you have to go back to 2012. Get ready for this...

In week 9 we beat NMSU to get back into the top 25 at #23

In week 10 we beat UTSA to go up to #19

In week 11 we beat Texas State to remain at #19, but went to #20 in the BCS poll knowing that we were now in the drivers seat for the Orange Bowl.

So, IMO the last big win we had in football was in San Marcos Texas against the Texas State Bobcats. How were we to know that our job hunting HC and his OC would check out after that game?

I feel like one "big win" every 10 years is enough for some of our fans, so that one oughta last until the end of Skip's contract.

IMO, our win over Illinois in the HOD Bowl did a lot to finally substantiate LA Tech's football credibility in CUSA, and elsewhere. It was only LA Tech's 2nd year in CUSA, and up until that HOD win over Illinois, we were known throughout CUSA as "the team that lost to FCS NSU". Or "the team that lost to newbie ODU" when they shouldn't have. Or "the team that managed to lose a CUSA championship game against Marshall that they should have won". We were also known for really sucking bad the previous year in 2013 (record of 4-8).

We badly needed that win over Illinois, and the team finally delivered.

Certainly the biggest win following the Texas State win. It helped lessen the blow of 2012 while a loss would have been a downer going in to 2015.

the one that put a lot of band wagon fans on our Tech wagon.
The amount of non Tech fans talked to me about Tech football and that game the days after were insane. People loves exciting football and that game was a very exciting game.

I see what you mean. That game went a long way to get Tech seen as positive in the eyes S'Port fans only to be blown to bits by the IBowl peeps a few weeks later.

what are you referring to? hope you are not referring to 2 teams making transition to FBs and two 1-11 teams ( NMSU had longest losing streak in nation) - Guess the big Bowl wins and division title years do not count and BEATING top 20 Navy in Bowl last year does not qualify--- posts like this keeps me from giving up on BBB--some of us feel an obligation to post the positive about our program

ask a girl to a prom and her dad ( Sonny ) the girl expects a better offer anyway . She tells you she's waiting for possible better . Guess you could live with that but not me -- we jerked them around -they jerked back. We all know that--

Nah, we asked them for a few hours more. They said, "screw you" when they could have easily waited. That team with 100 fans in Ohio wasn't going anywhere.

I was not a big fan of BVDV, but he had us going to Memphis over Shreveport which was a much better deal. Nobody saw the chain of events that would cause the Liberty Bowl to take Iowa State over us.

    #24 Navy's ranking is disputed
Illinois is a perennial bottom dweller
    Arkansas St, no comment

Let's grant the bowl wins are good. Program-changers? Debatable.

All of them came after momentum killing late-season collapses. There's no such thing as a division title, unless you're into participation trophies.

Yes I have been negative recently. I want to see Tech excel. We are not excelling. All the talent and wins over the last few years have translated into, what, exactly? Spending money on stadium upgrades?

I feel like last years Armed forces bowl win over Top 25 Navy was pretty big. Sure their starting QB was out(nobody really knows that) but it was a great game that some national attention due its back and forth nature.
