I never knew why this guy was known as a major recruiter. Him going ULL after being at power 5 schools is a huge step down in his career
Very successful, long-term high school head coach at Edna Karr. Several state championship appearances with one state championship. Dozens of his players played college football. All high school coaches in Louisiana know him and will take his call. This certainly helps him in recruiting. For instance, Devin Brumfield (Covington, LA) was committed to Texas Tech until Juluke was let go, now his recruitment is open again.
I think it was just assumed that he would be a great recruiter. He probably got let go at Texas Tech because they assumed he would bring in a bunch of Louisiana recruits and he didn't, they were expecting more than just a few recruits. I imagine that High School coaches would take any Division 1 coaches calls.
Baylor didn't have recruiting violations. Baylor had specific player discipline violations.
Since you asked about Baylor's recruiting, Baylor's 2018 recruiting class is ranked is #22 nationally. In fact, this will be the highest ranked Baylor football recruiting class ever to take the field at Baylor.

As far as the former coaches are concerned, 2 former Baylor Assistants --Kendall Briles and Randy Clements-- just accepted big job offers from the Univ of Houston. Briles will be the offensive coordinator and associate head coach at UH, while Clements was named the Cougars' offensive line coach. Briles was the OC for Lane Kiffin's CUSA champion FAU Owls this past season. It will be interesting to see how Kiffin's 2018 offense does without Briles' engineering.
Don't let HARPO find out about Baylor. The Black Dress Me too movement will be all over them.
