He will benefit from a couple more years of NFL experience before returning to lead the Bulldogs as HC.
I don't see how being a minor staffer on an NFL team helps someone develop into a better college coach.
Maybe we'll see how Precious does after his NFL experience.
Callahan got the Raiders' QB Coach job today.

I always gave Gruden credit for rushing Ratty's career to an end. He didn't help Luke either.
So, now that has passed, why is Rattay interviewing for NFL jobs? He's not happy in Ruston? Is it because he doesn't see himself coaching in college, long term? Or, was this just an isolated opportunity that came up and he thought "what the heck!" give it a go?
If you want to prove you are a "real" fan, up your LTAC donation. How many aren't even members?
MONEY $$$ is the reason . We do not have P5 money. Our coaches are a target for any NFL team of P5 team. If you take I'm at out of the picture and look at the passing yards our recent cast off quarterbacks have put up it reflects on Ratay very well.
You can "love" Ruston, but leave it for what you consider a better career opportunity. Nearly all Tech graduates who "love" Ruston fall into that category. The inverse can also be true, you may not "love" Ruston, but stay a long time, cause its your best career opportunity.
There could be another reason....
He is not able to advance his career at Tech with Holtz being the coach. Holtz won't even let somebody else call the plays. Who could blame Tim if he wants to leave. Tim should have already been promoted to OC and be able to call the plays but Tech lets Holtz do what he wants.
